What was the last romance novel you read?

I think we all read romance novels for different reasons. I know I do. Sometimes I read a particular book because a friend wrote it, sometimes because I hope to learn from it, and sometimes because I just want to escape and enjoy an interesting story. The most recent novel I finished was Cathy McDavid's Waiting for Baby. After reading it in one sitting, I immediately emailed her and let her know how much I enjoyed it. So what was the last romance novel you read? What made you decide to pick it up and get lost in the romance?

  1. I'm reading Line of Scrimmage by Marie Force and I'm LOVING it! I started yesterday as I traveled back home to TX and I read about 200 pages. I only stopped because my eyes were tired! I also intend to e-mail the author. The story is about a football star who realizes he has nothing if he can't convince his soon-to-be ex-wife to give their romance another chance.

  2. Beautiful website, Alexis! (catching up on emails and saw your post to CHRW). I just finished Lisa Campbell's Superstitions Desire. Before that, I read Kris Kennedy's The Conqueror. Do you see a Medieval Ages theme here?

  3. Hi Lexie,

Don't you hate it when you have to put a book down because your eyes are tired or your back hurts or worse, you have to cook dinner :-) Sounds like Line of Scrimmage is a good one.

  4. Hi Julie,

I love medievals as well. Those are usually the ones I read when I just want a good story to take me away. I love feeling like I've gone back in time only without the reality of garderobes and rushes :-)

  5. Hi Alexis, Congrats on the lovely blog! Good topic, romance novels. I'm currently reading Helen Brenna's First Come Twins. It's a great Harlequin SuperRomance set on an island on Lake Superior. It's a beautiful story, and just like you, I'm only able to close the book at night because my eyes are no longer willing to focus.

  6. Just finished a wonderful book by Kristan Higgins, which I picked up because I remembered her name from an email after a conference workshop I did years ago.

I was impressed at her taking the time to do that, and even MORE impressed by "Too Good To Be True" -- now I've gotta look up whatever else I've missed from her!

  8. Hi Laurie,

Isn't it wonderful when you find a great new author you didn't know was out there? Then you get to go out and buy all her past books. I love that because then you don't have to wait for her next one to come out because you have all these lovely other ones to catch up on.

  9. Hi Laurie,

Kudos on this fabulous site! Last great romance I read was part of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, J.R.Ward's Lover Avenged. I absolutely adore this series, and gosh darn it, I always read the latest book too fast and have nothing to fill the void till the new one comes out!

    I'm waiting for yours......

    :)
