Guest Author Interview: Michaela Rhua

Today we are interviewing Erotic Romance author Michaela Rhua

Alexis: Hi Michaela, thank you for visiting Happily Ever After Thoughts. I understand your first story is being published this month. Could you tell us a bit about how you got your first contract?

Michaela: I belong to a group called UCW, who are a bunch of women either published or aspiring. During a conversation, the idea of doing something that would fit around the time of Halloween came up. It was talked about as a way for us to collaborate by writing our own stories around one theme. So I said yes I would do it. That was the start!

Alexis: What a fun start :-) Your first release GYPSY BUTTERFLY is being published in ECLIPSE OF THE BLOOD MOON by Evernight Publishing. What is your story about specifically?

Michaela: It centers around a girl called Nali, who was born on the night of the Blood Moon, a rare occurrence that can happen on All Hallows Eve. She has had a difficult life but now is working and living independently, but away from regular contact with others. A stranger arrives at the holiday home rental site that she manages and sparks fly between them. The only problem is All Hallows Eve is coming up and with it comes the Blood Moon where Death is let loose.
I will leave it there, and let the readers discover more.

Alexis: That sounds great! Where did you get the idea for this story?

Michaela: It was obviously going to have a paranormal feel to it being centered around Halloween. So I started to search for images. I find collecting pictures inspires ideas. It was whilst I was searching for pictures showing a blood red moon that I started to put images together that became the rough working board of my story. This is where Pinterest is great for shaping ideas.

Alexis: Ah yes. Visuals definitely help the creative process. What are your favorite character traits of Nali and Michael?

Michaela: Nali is a survivor. She is strong and independent, having had to make her own way in life. She loves the simple life and wants to be left alone to do her own thing.

Michael is very protective and sexy. He will do anything he can to save her.

Alexis: Sounds like my kind of man. So I just have to ask, what type of writer are you? Nighttime or morning? Panster or Plotter? Silence or music?

Michaela: Hmmm, I work best in the morning when the house is quiet, which rarely happens. I need space and quite to think. Once I am into the story, I love to listen to music of all types to stimulate my senses. With this story I half plotted, in that I knew who the characters were and what their individual stories were. I went from there. So I suppose I do a bit of both, Plot and Pant! I am a Planters? LOL

Alexis: I like that. Salted or unsalted ;-) What can we expect next from you? Do you have any new releases coming or a work in progress?

Michaela: I have a book which is in the edits stage called Guardian Awakening with Breathless Press. I hope this will be a series. As well as this, I am trying to get my head into a story I started but have not got further with. So watch this space!

Alexis: Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. It's a pleasure having you visit.

Michaela: It has been an absolute pleasure chatting with you Alexis. Thank you for having me.

The storm's angry protest continued, and Nali wondered what was happening outside. No light seemed to shine through her window. Only a dull shadow filtered through. Another howling blast attacked her home, and Nali was grateful that she was inside safe with Michael. Her thoughts went to Bianco. Even though she knew he had plenty of water and feed, she was still concerned about him. Slowly she slipped out of the bed, not wishing to disturb Michael who was sound asleep. Creeping to the door Nali grabbed a few clothes and dressed. She lit the stove and put the kettle on. She would need hot coffee when she came in judging by the howling wind. Michael groaned and turned in bed. His unruly hair fell about his face. Nali looked at his serene, almost angelic features, and her heart skipped a beat. How could someone so perfect come into my life and want me? Pulling on her boots she opened the door, which swung open by the force of the wind. Nali held on tight to it so it would not swing and bang, waking Michael up.

Stepping out into the wailing storm, Nali saw the world around her was being torn and beaten by the extraordinary weather. Angry, dark clouds in the sky were ready to send down a torrent of rain. Looking again Nali saw the sun trying to reach out fingers of light, but the light was red in places. It triggered a lost memory that she could not quite reach and pull out. Shaking her head clear, she clutched her coat about her and fought against the elements to the stable. The door was rocking back and forth on its hinges; the wind had broken through somehow. Guilt ate at Nali’s stomach that she had not thought of Bianco earlier. No sound, just silence. Nali looked around at the mess inside. Bales of hay had toppled over; the contents of the feedbag littered the ground, and a foul smell was in the air.
