A Writer with Writers

Writing romance novels can be a rather solitary occupation, especially living on an island where there is only one other member of the Romance Writers of America. So I am in heaven this year because I have writers visiting me from the mainland once a month!

Yes, in January I had the wonderful Marie Patrick, historical romance author, critique partner,  and fellow blogger. She visited with her husband and her goal was to have an enjoyable vacation. Of course, we still talked writing which was such a thrill for me. It is hard to explain to others, even other writers, how hard it is without someone to talk to about the trials and triumphs of the writing process.

In February I was visited by a fellow Ellora’s Cave romance author who focuses on Steampunk and Sci-Fi romance. Getting to brainstorm with Tina Christopher was so exciting. We also did some tourist things that I had never done before like visiting the botanical gardens here. Since she had majored in conservation, the experience was very educational.

This month I have Harlequin New York Times bestselling author Cathy McDavid and one half of the dynamic writing duo of paranormal and contemporary romance, Tia Dani. We have been mixing pleasure (drinks, sightseeing and eating at the Crucian Contessa’s) with writer’s work (editing, writing and a book signing at our local bookstore).  I feel like I have my own writer’s group right here!

Next month I will have a visit from the very bubbly Cristal Ryder, another Ellora’s Cave author, and the following month my editor Grace Bradley will be visiting. I’m am so psyched and my writing muse is drinking in all this creative thought! Can’t wait for more inspiration in the months to come. I just know another Lexi Post book will be born :-)

Always, Lexi

    1. Can't wait! How's a Rum Factory tour sound as part of your visit, complete with tasting afterwards?
