October Is Here!

Hello, gentle reader! It’s October! Can you believe it!?!?!?
Being a back east girl (even though I’ve been in Arizona for over 35 years….oops, just dated myself!), Autumn has always been special for me. I love the cooler weather (I’m a cold weather person…heat and I don’t get along…so why do I live in Phoenix, the blast furnace of the country? DH is here. He loves the heat. ‘Nuf said.).
There’s a lovely tang in the air, a particular aroma that screams Fall, reminiscent of bonfires, hayrides, and carving pumpkins, of high school football games, steaming cups of hot chocolate (yes, with little marshmallows) and mulled cider. Time to put away the bathing suits and start bundling up in flannel, except here in Phoenix where we’re expecting temperatures in the 90’s. I’ve heard some people in other parts of the country have turned on their furnaces…some are even expecting snow! (Don’t hate me…I still have my air conditioner on).
Halloween will be here before we know it and all those little ghosts and goblins will be knocking on the door with their cries of ‘Trick or Treat’.
The best thing about Autumn? The leaves. In some places, particularly New England, the leaves go from green to nearly all the colors of the rainbow, leaving us to gasp in appreciation of their beauty.
Oh, I do so love this time of year!
Until next time, remember: Spread kindness wherever you go. A smile can go a long way in brightening someone's day!

  1. Definitely need that A/C on, LOL! I envy seeing people on TV at sports games wearing jackets and hats!
