Reader Interview: Jade

Today I’m interviewing Jade Fox who is from Texas. She’s a big San Francisco Giants fan 😊

Lexi: How did you get into reading romance novels?

Jade: My mom used to let me read hers since I was a teenager.

Lexi: Tell me about your pet.

Jade: I have 1 cat, 1 4' long corn snake, and I have three dogs that are all rescues. Our last rescue is a 17 year old rat terrier and we have had him for a 1 1/2 years. He acts like a puppy.

Lexi: Yay! Another pet rescue mom! I think corn snakes look awesome! What are you good at?

Jade: I’m good with remembering random dates. I’m good at making friends. I’m a doer so I make things happen.  I’m a good mom. I’m good at relating to people

Lexi: If you could name a character in a romance novel, what would you name him or her? Why?

Jade:  I would name her Jessie because that’s always been my favorite name. I like girl names that are also boys names.  I would name the male character Wyatt because I’ve always loved it.

Lexi: I like girl names that are also boy names too! What makes you happy?

Jade: Traveling, being with my family, reading, riding horses, the ocean, swimming.

Lexi: Tell me about your significant other.

Jade: My husband Greg and I have been married for 22 years.  He is a special agent with ATF. We have moved around the country.

Lexi: Wow! That's an adventure. What’s your favorite dessert?

Jade: Donuts, pie.

Lexi: What types of romances do you like to read?

Jade: I like sports romances, rockstar romances.

Lexi: What are you proud of?

Jade: I’m proud of my boys. I’m proud that I’m independent. I’m proud that I can drive a cross country round trip with my 9 and 11 year old by myself. We did 45, 000 miles in 11 1/2 weeks. Not to mention all up and down the east coast and all through Florida

Lexi: OMG, I would never make it that far in a car. What’s your average day look like?

Jade: I get up and get my kids ready for school and drive them around to their activities after school. I try to have lunch dates with my girlfriends once a week. I do stay at home PTA boards.  Last year I put in 1,100 volunteer hours.  I have to lay down some during the day due to being partially paralyzed and in chronic pain.

Lexi: You do so much despite your health. I so admire that. What’s your perfect day look like?

Jade: Being able to sleep in and read all day. Lol

Lexi: How many hours a week do you spend reading romance?

Jade: Probably close to 35-40 hours. I read about 5-6 books a week

Lexi: Who made the biggest impact on your life?

Jade: Probably my husband because I met him two days after I turned 19. We have been through a lot of ups and downs and we are currently going through a divorce. I have spent over 23 years with him. We have moved a lot and traveled.  We have had a lot of adventures. I think he has had the biggest impact because he taught me a lot about myself and life.  I have been with him longer than my parents.  He taught me how to be self reliant, confident, resilient, more outgoing and how to love and care. Plus he gave me two beautiful boys that will also impact my life forever.

Lexi: If you could go on an all expense paid vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

Jade: I would go to Australia. I have wanted to go since I was 7 and I saw my favorite movie for the first time. It took place in Australia. I want to go horse back riding through the outback.

Lexi: That sounds like it would be fantastic. I'd like to go to Australia, too. How many books do have in your “To Be Read” pile (means you’ve bought them but still need to read)?

Jade: Not many. Maybe less than 20. If I buy them I read them.

Lexi: If you could give someone what they wanted most, what and who would it be?

Jade: I would give my mom her farm with all her animals. She always wanted one but has never been able to do it. That’s the only thing she has ever wanted. She gave me her love for animals and especially horses.

Lexi: I like your mom already :-) How many romance authors are on your auto-buy list?

Jade: Maybe 20

Lexi: What kind of car do you drive? If you had your choice, would it be that one or a different one?

Jade:  I actually have several. I have a ‘70 Dodge Challenger, two jeep wranglers, a f-250, and a Ford Taurus.  I would want to fix my Jeep up and make it look more bada$$

Lexi: LOL How many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren all total do you have?

Jade: I have two boys who are 11 and 13.

Lexi: What do you do for fun (besides reading romance novels)?

Jade: I swim, go on road trips, sell Pampered Chef, wheel.

Lexi: What did you think you’d be when you grew up?

Jade: I thought I would be a teacher or police officer. I made it all the way through the hiring process for the Oakland pd. I passed it up because I knew my husband didn’t want to spend five years in the Bay Area and I didn’t want to pay them back for training.  I decided to stick with nursing.

Lexi: Another profession that is very helpful to humanity. What don’t most people on social media not know about you?

Jade: That I’m really sensitive. That my life is not what it may seem.  They don’t know my biggest fears.

Lexi: What’s your favorite holiday? Why?

Jade: Christmas. I think because it has so many traditions. I love all the sparkles and food. Lol. I really like to be able to give what I think someone wants so I love to watch other people get presents more than I like to receive them.

Lexi: I totally get that. What mistake have you made that you learned the most from?

Jade: Not setting myself up for the future. Trusting that I would always be married. I’ve been out of my field for 13 years to raise my boys.

Lexi: Ouch. That will be hard. What color eyes do you have?

Jade: Hazel

Lexi: How old do you think is perfect for a hero?

Jade:  26-35

Lexi: Do you collect anything? If so, what?

Jade: I collect postcards from my trips. I also collect fox stuff.

Lexi: What are you afraid of?

Jade: I’m afraid of my kids dying, of not being loved, and heights.

Lexi: I think a lot of people have those very same fears. What educational background do you have?

Jade:  I have vocation training in nursing. Hoping to go back to school.

Lexi: Do you dream at night? Do you remember your dreams?

Jade:  I do but I don’t remember them.

Lexi: What are some of your favorite movies?

Jade: Man from Snowy River, Hope Floats, Act of Valor, Steel Magnolias, Dirty Dancing

Lexi: If there was one thing you wanted to tell me, but I didn’t ask, what would it be?

Jade: I love sports. I’m a baseball nut and go to as many games as I can. I want to visit all the stadiums.  I also like old cars. I love to camp. I love for a guy and myself to be shaved everywhere. I got a horse for Christmas at age 13. I rode almost every day. He kept me out of trouble as a teenager. I learned to drive in Russia when I was a 16 year old exchange student. I love black licorice. My doctors told me I would always walk with a limp, not be able to drive, run, ski, etc due to my foot drop and paralysis. I do all of that. I only limp when my leg is tired. My ideal man would be a surfing cowboy😂.  I love country boys and surfers.

Lexi: I have to admit to being jealous of the horse at age 13, but I so admire your determination to keep going no matter what. Okay, time for the quickies.
