Veronica Reviews - HIGLAND LEGEND by Kathryn LeVeque

Highland Legend

(Scots & Swords #3)

Historical Romance

“When everything goes to hell, the people who stand by you without flinching—they are your family.”—Jim Butcher, Dresden Files

Welcome to the Ludus Caledonia, an elite training compound where worthy men may sign on years of service to become highly trained warriors.  Magnus Stewart has hidden the truth behind his royal bloodline and has fought his way to becoming the top gladiator known as “The Eagle”.  Magnus is a proud man that struggles with opening up to his fellow fighters about his past, but when he’s in need of assistance to protect the woman he loves, Magnus discovers he’s not alone in this world…the Ludus Caledonia has become his family…a clan of powerful fighters who would lay their life down to defend one of their own…

Diantha de Mora remembers Magnus from her youth.  Both being held hostage for political reasons, their younger years were filled with misery and loneliness.  While Magnus was released from his bondage, Diantha finds herself betrothed to a man that is beyond cruel.  Seeing a way to save herself, Diantha escapes and flees to the Ludus Caledonia begging Magnus to help her get back to her homeland.  An agreement between them is reached, and over the next few weeks, Magnus finds the chip on his shoulder whittled down by this beautiful woman that sees so much more in him than just a fighter…

Is it possible for these two lost souls find a home with each other and in all places a fight club?

Dear reader, I’ve so enjoyed Kathryn LeVeque’s Scots & Swords series, and in her third installment, we have a sweet romance between Magnus and Diantha, where true love does indeed become legendary!

“I love ye…Ye have been mine since the beginning of time and ye’ll be mine until the end of all things...”  If you are a fan of her medieval romances, be prepared for the same epic adventure and swoon worthy hero!  Highly recommend!

Veronica Reviews ~ HIGHLAND WARRIOR by Heather McCollum

Highland Warrior

(Sons of Sinclair, Book 2)

★★★★★

5 Stars

Historical Romance

“I love you.  I need you to know that.  I could not imagine the pain of dying without being able to tell you what I have only now discovered in my heart.”

Joshua Sinclair was War incarnate, the second Horseman of the Apocalypse…at least that was what his father raised him to believe.  Growing restless, Joshua leaves his home and Clan Sinclair behind to seek out those in need of his talents to train men for battle.  But this fierce warrior’s world is about to turn on its axis when he stumbles upon a Norse beauty and queen of her people who offers him a night of pleasure that in turn becomes a temptation to help break her people free from the tyranny of the Stewarts.

When setting out to teach the tactics of war, Joshua has met his match in the fair Kara Flett.  But when her life is put in jeopardy, there is no fiercer foe than a highlander’s sword and his thirst for vengeance, and if that highlander just happens to be one of the fabled Horseman, let it be known there is no force on earth that will deter the mighty Joshua Sinclair from protecting what is his…“He had never seen anything so beautiful before in his life.  He would battle a million wars to keep them safe, or sail a thousand seas to take them to safety, or build a hundred castles to protect them.”

*Happy Dancing* Oh dear Reader, I am sooooo excited that Heather McCollum has returned to her Sons of Sinclair series!  These four brothers have been raised by their father believing they are nonother than the four Horseman of the Apocalypse, and each of their stories thus far has matched the hero with a lover that is off the charts in chemistry and offers them a happily ever after they never dared dreamed to receive.

“Love was risky.  It could tear one apart, but it could also build one into a mountain of strength.  It made life sweeter, brighter, and so worth living.”

While this is the second in the series, it is written well enough to be read standalone with no cliffhangers.  If you are a fan of highland romances, I can’t recommend this author enough!  Loved loved loved Joshua’s story and sooooo looking forward to the next installment!

Historical Romance

“I’d rescue the devil from Hell if it helped ye, lass.”

Laird Angus McTaggart and Lady Francesca Aldiss started their life together with a fierce passion. But over time, Lady Aldiss can no longer tolerate the lifestyle of the Highlands and longs for her days in society living in London. After the birth of their daughter, Lady Aldiss tells her husband that he may keep their sons and raise them in the wilds, but she is taking their daughter to be raised amongst the cultured. Laird McTaggart, in great need of his wife’s large coffers, agrees to her terms—their three sons must all wed an English lass before their sister or she will cut off funding Clan Ross.

Fast forward 17 years, and the MacTaggert brothers find themselves at a loss when their father tells them of the agreement made with their mother. Coll, Aden, and Naill MacTaggert are determined no mother that abandoned them will dictate how they will live their lives, and descend upon Lady Aldiss with plans of their own. Alas, their mother will not budge, and after Naill finds love and marriage, Aden and Coll start to feel the noose of their future nuptials.

Aden is known to be more reclusive than his fisticuffs elder brother, and tends to keep his own company in the midst of the local gaming hells of London. But when a feisty damsel in distress approaches him for assistance, Aden starts thinking that perhaps being with one woman to call his own for always isn’t such a bad bet...

Miranda Harris can’t believe her brother has sold her off to cover his gambling debt. Sworn to secrecy out of fear of hurting her family, Miranda opts to fight fire with fire by seeking assistance in a fellow gambler, Aden MacTaggert. Never did she dream that she would actually grow to care for the Highlander…

Suzanne Enoch’s Scot Under the Covers is a fun fast-paced romance that I enjoyed and would recommend to lovers of this genre. I’m so looking forward to Coll’s story in the next installment of the Wild Wicked Highlanders series.
