Some Good Stuff

Hello, gentle readers! Hope you are all well and staying safe!
Well, let’s see what’s happened over here since I last wrote. A lot of things. Good things!
First, after forty years, I got rid of cable TV. I know! Forty years…and I can’t tell you how good it feels not to pay that bill (yes, they raised my rates along with the new year so I wasn’t happy about that…I wasn’t surprised by it either). I kept the internet from my provider (and bought myself a new modem, too) and now I have Netflix (which is a good thing and a bad thing). I will admit I’m enjoying that a little too much. Such good shows, so many things I haven’t seen, and you all know by now how much I enjoy watching movies. Just finished watching an excellent series yesterday, but I have to be careful and limit my time because I have other things to do.
Speaking of those other things, the first draft of The Marshal & Mrs. Morgan is almost done. One more chapter to go (the resolution to the Big Black Moment). Of course, I’ve already written the epilogue (hahahahaha, because that’s the way I roll. I'm also gearing up to start The Madam & Mr. MacLean, the next story in The Matchmaker Mischief series. That's been started already).
I have to say I have enjoyed writing this book. I’m amazed at how fast, too! I usually take about a year or more to write a story, but this one? Eight months (without plot points or an outline! I just let it flow)! And that with working full time and taking care of the house and everything else (as you all know, time is a luxury we don’t always have, hence the reason I get up so early in the morning. Those early morning hours are my time and I hold them dear). It still needs to go through critique and beta reads, but I’m so close to finishing, I can taste it. We’re on the downward slope and it feels really good!
With that said, I should get back to it.
Stay well! Stay safe! And remember to spread kindness wherever you go!

PRAISE FOR ILLICIT DESIRE

FOUR STARS - ROMANTIC TIMES
"It's a rare treat to find an oft-used trope crafted into such a touching, sensual page-turner. A meticulously detailed realm of subhumans, werewolves and genetically enhanced sex slaves provides the backdrop for an intense story of identity, desire and freedom. Peril and sexual exploration are well balanced with insight, making for a reading experience as thought-provoking as it is exciting. Elements of humor round out a winning installment of the Outlawed Realm."
.
Summary: When his creators saved him from death, Lukan was forced to leave behind Arez, a woman he craves and adores. Desperate to rescue her, Lukan enlists the help of quantum physicist Nikoli Zorr to create a portal. Without a way to return to Earth, Lukan and Arez have nothing but their trust in each other to help them outwit myriad dangers and ruthless creatures.

UNENDING DESIRE

Erotic Urban Fantasy SciFi Romance

Blurb:

His hunger for one woman will make him a traitor to his world…

From a portal in his lab on E2, one of the five dimensions of Earth, quantum physicist Nikoli Zorr gazes on everything forbidden to him. Passion. Desire. The exquisite pleasure of running his hands over the lush curves of a young woman he should have stopped watching weeks ago.

His duty is to close the portals that keep the monsters out of E2—and never interfere with the inevitable fate of those on the other side. Yet he can’t bring himself to abandon the woman who has captured his soul.

Psychologist Regina Page is trying to focus on her client, and off the mysterious, unbearable sexual cravings that consume her when she’s alone in her bedroom. The next moment she’s attacked by vampires, then swept into another realm by Nikoli, a stranger whose touch awakens that same raw desire. Whose eyes are already filled with farewell.

Yet beneath their undeniable carnal lust, something else stirs. The beginnings of illicit love. The unexpected need to protect him. Even if it means risking body, blood, and soul to defeat the merciless horde…for a future that was never meant to be.

The Interview by Donna Alam

What every woman wants is a great interview.

Mimi got a lot more than she could possibly imagine.

Showing up at the bank owned by her brother's best friend, Whit, whom she hadn't seen in years, her resume' states a perfect reason for her to be hired.

This is where normalcy flips us the finger, and spice is added to our bland January.

Whit must be expecting someone else because in the darkened office he doesn't ask for her resume' but rather takes physical control of her body.

She loves it!  With the decades old and nearly forgotten crush, Mimi encourages his examination of her talents.

After the hour of lust, begins the embarrassment, denial, anger, bargaining, and any other form of handling the situation.

Whit would like to turn off his attraction, not employ her, and pretend nothing ever happened.  Although, he can't stop thinking about her and imagining another interview scene.

Mimi deserves the job and intends on getting it.  Life is too short not to take chances and not to enjoy life every day.

The characters are well developed along with many heartwarming scenes.  The black moment in the story is a unique and difficult scene to envision, yet the characters pull us to a bright day. With a few typos but many great scenes, the romance is something you don't want to miss.

Happy reading,

Dawn

Happy 2025!

Hello, gentle readers! Hope you are all well and staying safe! Happy 2025!
It’s early Sunday morning (real early, like 4:30am) as I write this. The house is quiet…well, except for Pepper, sleeping on the futon behind me, chasing whatever in her dreams. Lacey is on the futon as well, but she’s just snoring (and it's adorable, such a little tiny sound from this massive fur-ball). And actually, I can hear my DH talking in his sleep, even though he’s in another room. Must be a good dream, because he’s laughing!
Hmmmm, I guess it's not so quiet after all! But I digress.
Being that this is a new year with so many possibilities for new beginnings, I spent some time yesterday cleaning my computer room/office/repository of so many things. When I’m knee-deep in a story, this room tends to get a little messy and since I live in Arizona, dusty (hahahahaha, dust is just something you get used to here because no matter how often or how well one dusts, there’s always more dust. And yes, it is the bane of my existence).
Anyway, I tackled my filing cabinets as well and you know what I discovered (beside dust)? Now, I know I am a hoarder of Tupperware (hahahaha, can’t have enough Tupperware) and I know I’m a dedicated pen freak (need a pen? I have plenty! No, really! Can’t tell you how many I have!) but yesterday, cleaning out my file cabinets, I also discovered that I have a thing for writing tablets. Yes, you heard that right. Writing tablets and steno books and those tiny little composition books and spiral notepads, all shapes and sizes and colors (I also have a notebook or two in my purse, but what writer doesn’t?).
This surprised me but shouldn’t have. Every time I start a new story, I buy a package of three 8 ½ x 11 writing tablets, usually in pink or purple or green (the green is harder and harder to find) for jotting down important things I need to remember (you never know when a thought will come to you but you’re doing something else and can’t get to your computer fast enough so you just need to jot it down before it goes away).
For The Maverick & Miss Miller as well as The Marshal & Mrs. Morgan, I tried something different (because this is a trilogy—for now—might be able to get three more stories out of it). I tried the 8 ½ x 11 spiral notebooks as opposed to the writing tablets where you must flip the page up and over and it’s working out well.
Am I obsessed? Quite possibly. But in my defense, is there anything more glorious than a brand new, fresh out of the cellophane pad of paper or clean, never been written in spiral notebook!?!?!??! I think not.
Anyway, stay well! Stay safe! And remember to spread kindness wherever you go!

The Christmas Breakup Club by Luci Beach

Anyone with the name of "Holly" cannot have a bad holiday.  I just made up that rule.  That's the only rule I have to make up because the story takes care of itself from here.

Newly dumped by her boyfriend, Holly agrees to cat-sit for her boss over Christmas.  Holly's mom is in Scotland and her father in Tasmania, which are both too far from England.  She'd be an inconvenience in their style.  A cozy apartment above a department store all rigged up for an English Christmas with a fury friend will do her just fine.

The posh apartment is under remodeling, but at least there's a microwave for her Christmas TV dinner.  The one thing Holly needs to look into is the drip from the ceiling otherwise she'd not leave the couch.

Upstairs is another apartment with Joe as the tenant.  He's also the handyman for the whole building and seems to be slacking on his duties.  Holly will make sure he changes his work commitment.

Fixing the leak leads to many strange adventures, riding a sleigh in the department store underneath them, strolling the Christmas lit streets, and microwaving dinner together.

Until Eleanor invades.  She's Joe's (ex?) girlfriend.  Handling a perfect cat, a leaky ceiling, and mischief in a closed department store is one thing, but dealing with a possible girlfriend leaves Holly wondering if she's wrong about liking the man upstairs too much.

If only she knew what Joe was thinking.  Maybe he can change Holly's rules for the Christmas Breakup Club.

Happy reading,

Dawn
