Dance With the Enemy by Rob Sinclair

This is certainly a dangerous romance.
Carl Logan works covertly for the US government.  He does the things no one wants to hear about, but need to get done.
Angela Grainger's position with the FBI sends her to the same location and case that Logan is placed on.  Granted, she has a lot of secrets that will shock the reader.
Coincidences can be murderous and romance is unexpected, unwanted, and can't be avoided.  The heart has a case of its own.Dance with the Enemy
Logan is placed in London to find out who kidnapped and is probably torturing the US Attorney General.  He hasn't been on assignment for five months, and he holds a vendetta against a party to the captors of the AG.  He's not afraid to use deadly measures.
Grainger is looking for the kidnappers, too.  Amazing that Logan and her end up in the same place at the same time while Logan is following the kidnappers.
Against better judgement, they team together and watch each other's backs.
Sleeping in the same, small hotel room has its temptations.  When nothing else supplies a getaway from the miserable conditions of the investigation, a lot of body heat feels real nice.
A big problem they both realize, is that they can't share all information and repeatedly hold back.  Who's on who's side and how can it be proven after lies and silences?  How will the case end, and will they be able to see each other afterward?
They certainly hope so, and so do I.

New release! Demon Dawn

For those of you who like a little bite with their romance, check out the newest release of The Resurrection Chronicles. Demon Dawn is the seventh in this nail biting series that has zombies, fey, and romance.

Survival requires sacrifice. The world irrevocably changed after the hellhounds and fey appeared. Most people didn't survive that first night. Dad had said we were lucky we did. I'm not so sure about that anymore.

With her father murdered before her eyes and her faith in the remaining humans shaken, Brenna reluctantly accepts sanctuary in Tolerance, a safe zone managed by the fey. The wall keeps the infected out. But it also keeps the humans in…with the very creatures that caused the world to break. Big, grey, and ruthlessly deadly, the fey strike fear in the hearts of men and women alike. But Brenna finds one more intimidating than all the rest. Scarred and angry, Thallirin watches Brenna with an intensity that makes her relive the events that followed her father's murder. She knows what Thallirin wants, and she's never going to be used like that again. Tormented by her past, Brenna sees no possible future other than eventual infection or starvation. There is hope, though. Her community is abuzz with a newly discovered way to protect women against the disease that's turning people into zombies. However, it doesn't come from a needle. It comes from sleeping with the dark fey.

I'm Late!

Hello, gentle readers!
I’m late! I know…but I have a really good excuse. I…forgot what day it was. Seriously. I forgot.
How does that happen? Well, as you know, I’ve been working from home and not leaving the house unless absolutely necessary (like all of you) and one day just kinda flowed into the next…and there you have it. So now, it’s Thursday, a day later than I usually post…but I’m still posting.
How you all doing? Are you like me, losing track of days? Do you find yourself doing things you didn’t have time to do before with this sheltering in place? Or have you become busier?
Considering that I’ve lost my commute time, there’s an extra hour in my day, so I’m trying to put it to good use (my kitchen has never been so clean and I’m cooking more). Does that mean I’m writing more? Truthfully? No. In fact, since I last posted, when I said that I was going to change my routine and get my characters out of limbo, I must admit that Gabe and Andi are still where I left them. Still in limbo, their lips so close to touching! I promised myself that I wouldn’t let the outside world influence my writing. I didn’t realize it would be so much harder done than said. I’m still trying though (I’m one of those…I don’t give up very easily. Some would say I’m stubborn…and they would be right).
Despite everything that’s happening, there is good out there. Acts of kindness and bravery are all over the news feed. People are going above and beyond for their fellow man. And I’m loving that! As you know, I’m all about spreading that kindness.
And I learned something new! I did! I can video chat with my son on Facebook. Had no idea I could do that (I admit to not being technically savvy)! So nice to see his face when I talk to him (and we talk quite a bit…I love the relationship we have…it’s irreverent, lots of teasing, lots of laughing, even when we’re being serious…I like to think he gets his humor from me, but that’s not the truth…he has his father’s humor!).

Until next time, be safe, be well, and yes, spread that kindness wherever you can.

New Relase! AN UNBREAKABLE FAMILY by Roberta Bombonato

Good Morning everyone and thank you, Lexi, for letting me do a guest post!

The first book I ever published was An Unconventional Family, back in 2009. It was always my intention of turning it into a trilogy, but life got in the way, especially when I had my health decline.

I was in so much pain, anxiety crippled my brain, and was even hospitalized. There, they diagnosed me with PRES ( Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome ) This was when I decided I needed to take my life back. With the ketogenic diet, not only did i lose 50 lbs, BUT my brain was returned to me. I am so blessed to tell you that I have since reversed the syndrome, too. No more blood pressure pills, no more anxiety, no more debilitating pain. And Bonus:  I CAN WRITE AGAIN!!!

With all the characters back on speaking terms with me, I have been on cloud 9 getting their stories out. I am a sucker for good redemption stories.

Marvin Costa, alias AZRAEL, is a hit man, but he does have a strict code. He only kills the guilty, never women or children. When he meets Keiko Akashimi, by chance, in an abandoned warehouse, he finds out she had just been orphaned by his arch nemesis. Of course, he will take her case pro-bono. Carmen Moreno, his on-off girlfriend for 10 years, has had enough. Especially when she thinks he got some girl from Chinatown pregnant. Keiko was their missing link. Will he be able to keep them both safe and retire?
An Unconventional Family received an honorable mention in the 2009 Hollywood Book Festival. The new and improved second edition is now available on Kindle and Amazon.

10 years later, (in real life too, funnily enough), the same family along with some new characters are back. Carmen and Marvin have a wonderful marriage.Giovanni is a lively boy who can hold his own against bullies. Keiko is now 18 and struggling to find herself and to let the past stay there. The family is clashing, but what better way to bring them together than good old fashioned domestic terrorism? AN UNBREAKABLE FAMILY is now available on Kindle and Amazon.

This is an international, action-packed adventure that will keep you turning the pages into the wee hours of the night. These characters are so alive, they might as well be real people. They came to me in a time of need and urgency. For that, I will always be grateful. Book 3 will also be set 10 years after Book 2, but it won't take 10 years to write. I promise. Book 3 will be available spring of 2021.

Thank you readers and supporters. Without you, stories gather dust and become forgotten. Check out my website for character introductions and announcements for upcoming books.

I'm on Twitter @authorbombonato where I love to talk about books. I am also on Instagram @nerdyketonian where I talk about my ketogenic journey and my dogs.

Times have been tough and weird with this pandemic. What better way to do social distancing than to remain together on social media? Stay safe, everyone. And happy reading.

Sincerely,
Roberta Bombonato.

Veronica Reviews: PERFECTION by Kitty Thomas

Perfection
by
Kitty Thomas

5 Stars

“I wonder if he can see the fear in my eyes.  I’m afraid of what I feel, afraid of what I want, afraid of this dark slithering thing he’s awakened inside of me…”

Cassia seems to have the perfect life married to the rich and powerful Conall Walsh.  But what is perceived as perfection by those that live outside the walls of Cassia’s home, is a living nightmare to her…a nightmare that ends in the death of her tormentor…and awakens an entirely new darkness in the form of her blackmailer…a blackmailer that does not demand money, but rather her complete obedience and submission…

Perfection is a darkly enticing romance that I devoured in one sitting!  Loved and highly recommend!

Sharing what I love,
Veronica

Dark Russian Angel (A Vancouver Mafia Romance) by Odette Stone

Which bad boy is a better bet on getting help?
Olivia needs help, but only bad men and no help is all around her after she witnesses a murder.
Under the Witness Protection Program, the police get cold feet as they are picked off one by one.  Maybe helping a stripper isn't enough of a payback for putting their lives on the line.
Andrusha has a problem with this.
As the leader of the Russian Mafia stationed in Vancouver, Andrusha couldn't be happier if Olivia lived to tell the truth in court against his rival.Dark Russian Angel
As her safe house is again attacked, Andrusha steps in.
Getting to know each other wasn't part of the plan, but Olivia feels an attraction to the dangerous man who saved her.  Yet, his lifestyle scares her.
Andrusha likes to be in control of everything, including his women.  The fact that he got her a dog as a companion saved him in my eyes.  And he refuses to control her, but rather he digs in himself and finds a kinder, caring element of his personality he didn't know about.
An exciting and surprising read as I followed the unfolding of a man and woman's unconventional romance.

Happy reading,
Dawn

Changes (Part 2)

Hello, gentle readers!
I have a confession to make. I…have not been writing. I know! This is so unusual for me. I’ve always written. In most cases, it’s how I deal with stress. The one place where I have control (well, until my characters start doing what ever they want, totally disregarding what I want/need them to do). My characters are in limbo (did they write themselves into the corner they’re in or did I do it?) and yet, I can’t seem to make myself open the file and get them out of limbo. I know where they have to go…that happily ever after we all crave, but it’s just not happening at the moment.
It could be that I am too distracted by what’s going on in the world.
Or it could be that my routine has changed.
I think it’s that last thing, more than anything else. I really do.
Now, you all know I love my routines. They’re how I live my life. Everything is carefully orchestrated in order to get as much done as possible with limited time, but lately, that routine has been in limbo as much as my characters are. Like many of you, I am practicing social distancing as well as working from home.
Now don’t get me wrong. I am extremely grateful that I am allowed to work from home. I truly am, especially when so many cannot. My dogs love it…more opportunity for them to get cuddles and cookies. My DH likes it (I think).
So, what is the solution? Make a new routine, of course (easier said than done…my old routine has served me well for the past twenty years or so). Beginning now. No more allowing myself to become distracted by things I can’t control (i.e. the outside world). I am safe in my home, thankful beyond belief that I am here. I can do this. Just a few little tweaks to how I used to do things and I’ll be on my way, once more letting my characters run rough-shod over my outline. I do miss Gabe and Doctor Andi, the hero and heroine of Wife Wanted. They deserve more from me than they're currently getting. I will do better by them!
Speaking of changes, I tried Zoom for the first time when talking to the mistress of this website. I loved it. First time we’d ‘seen’ each other in a while (she looks fabulous, by the way). In fact, I liked it so much that I Zoomed (is that a word?) with my son, too! You should try it!
Until next time, remember to spread kindness wherever you go. Right now, we need that more than ever. Be safe. Stay well!

New Release by Tina Donahue DEADLY DIAGNOSIS

Deadly Diagnosis
(Phoenix Agency)

by Tina Donahue

A lifesaving gift…a plan for domination and death.

Within her unique DNA, Kimana holds the means to cure any illness permanently, a talent she’s used on those in her Shoshone community. When the billionaire owner of a pharmaceutical concern accidentally discovers what she can do, he fears the end to disease and his profits, and wants her dead.

As a member of the Phoenix Agency, Lucas arrives to protect Kimana from those set on her destruction. Ex-military intelligence, he’s seen a lot but no one like her, a woman seemingly born for him, her presence needed in his life, her gift as unique as his paranormal talent. To Kimana, he’s the man she’s been waiting for.

Together, they battle an adversary driven by insatiable greed who’ll stop at nothing to take what he wants. When her and Lucas’s lives are at risk, her gift can only save one before draining her life force and threatening her existence.

A sacrifice she’s willing to make for Lucas.

Excerpt:

A distressed or weary sigh wafted into this room from the kitchen.

The narrow doorway leading into it didn’t allow much view, simply a counter and low cabinets painted a sunny yellow, long female legs dangling over them.

Lucas dipped to the side to see more.

Kaku slipped her arm through his. “My granddaughter’s in the kitchen. We’ll talk there.” She pulled him toward it and leaned close, her mouth near his ear. “I’m afraid she was against you coming today, but I insisted.” Her voice lowered to a whisper. “You’ll have to win her over, though I’m sure you will.”

Another matter Dan had failed to mention.

Considering Poca followed them, Lucas spoke as quietly as she had. “Are she and the officer married?”

“Heavens no. I’m not certain they’re even friends any longer.” She pulled him inside the kitchen. “Kimana, please get down and greet our guest.”

Lucas hoped she would since every word he’d known had drifted away. His pulse ticked up, and his cock thickened.

Given her long legs, he guessed her to be five-eight or so standing. A good height to match a tall man. Youth blessed her pretty features, telling him she was, at most, late twenties. She’d worked her glossy black hair into a long braid that hung over her narrow shoulder. The script on her T-shirt read: Bossy Jerk Meet A PO’D Feminist — Let’s See Who Wins.

Little wonder she and Poca weren’t buddies any longer.

Lucas fought a pleased smile at her fire and tightened nipples. Those babies poked her smooth cotton top, the fabric hugging her like skin. The same for her fashionably ragged jeans.

He liked her cowboy boots. Referring to them as cowgirl wouldn’t have been right for such a spirited woman. One he was eager to meet and win over, as Kaku had said. “Hi.” He held out his hand. “I’m Lucas Byrne from the Phoenix Agency.”

She frowned at him then gave it to Poca.

He pushed past Lucas, knocking his shoulder to reach her side. “I’ll get rid of him. He and that damn agency won’t bother you—”

“Why are you still here?” Her scowl worsened. “No.” She lifted her hand before he could answer, protest, or draw his gun. “Why did you bother coming over? Kaku didn’t send for you and I sure as fuck didn’t.”

“Kimana.” The old woman sagged. “Must you use such language?”

At the admonition, regret rose in her dark-brown eyes, love and respect quickly replacing the first emotion.

Lucas’s dick hardened further. A curious though reasonable response. Her gutsy side was something, the feminine part even better. There weren’t many men he knew who could resist her soulful gaze, Poca included.

The poor guy edged toward her.

Her hard look not only stopped Poca but encouraged him to retreat to a far corner where he stayed. For the moment.

She gave Kaku a remorseful smile. “Sorry. I’ll be better. Mr. Byrne.” She didn’t come down from the counter, join him, or shake his hand. “You shouldn’t have come. I don’t need your help.”

He kept his manner non-threatening and gracious. “That isn’t what I heard.”
