Cynthia D'Alba

*A Standalone Navy SEAL - Military Romance

When a Navy SEAL runs into an obstacle, he climbs over it, under it, around it, or destroys it. So what if it's a woman?

Master Chief Benjamin Blackwell has it all. Adventure, good looks, skills, and women. His life is perfect and he has no intention of changing a thing. Until her.

Holly Maxwell is a sexy woman unlike anyone he’s met before. A widow for ten years, she’s happy with her life even with the trials of raising a pre-teen daughter, and being the only girl in a nosy, boisterous family of Coronado cops.

Chapter One ~
(unedited sneak peek)

As he headed home, the ocean waves were off the hook and calling his name. Serious surf time climbed to the number one spot on his list eliminating everything else.

After grabbing his gear, he headed down to Coronado Beach to surf there while he could. Come Memorial Day, no surfing there until after Labor Day.

Within an hour, he was stomach down on his board and paddling through waves. He was stoked.

Far enough from the shore to catch a ride, he sat upright and waited for the perfect wave. The first wave wasn’t just perfect, it was bomb and he lived for those. Backpaddling like crazy, he caught that bad boy and was up, shredding it for all he was worth, thanking his lucky stars this wasn’t a party wave. All to himself. A dream come true.

As he cross-stepped, and carved his way through this massive wave, every real-world problem evaporated. He was in the moment and loving it.

Down a short way, another guy—a total grommet—was trying to surf. His technique—if he could call it a technique—was choppy, a little spastic, and hesitant. More than once, the grom wiped out more than he rode. A newbie who could use some serious lessons before he hurt himself or another surfer.

Benjamin thought momentarily about offering advice, but didn’t. Some guys didn’t take suggestions well and frankly, he wasn’t out here to teach surfing. He was here to do surfing.

After a few incredible rides, he carried his board onto the sand, and for the first time that day, looked around. To his surprise, the beach had grown heavy with beachgoers, not that he should be surprised. A beautiful Sunday with sun and waves. Who could ask for more?

Behind him, the Coronado Beach lifeguard ATV made its way slowly along the top of the beach, the rider watching the ocean and sand activities. Benjamin had gotten to the beach a little after the lifeguards had come on duty, but he rarely paid them much attention. He figured he was one fewer person they had to watch.

At that thought, he looked toward the ocean to see how the newbie was doing. Looked like he was getting the paddling into the wave down. Now to stand. He got upright momentarily, then Benjamin rolled his eyes as the guy flipped off his board, his ass handed to him by a beginner wave.

Benjamin watched for the guy’s head to reappear. It didn’t. He dropped his board to the sand as he began making his way back to the ocean, his eyes scanning the surf. Probably nothing. Lifeguards surely had their collective eyes on this guy, too. Anyone could see he didn’t have the board down yet.

Then, the surfer’s head broke the surface. His arms floundered in the air. His head disappeared.

“Man down,” he shouted as he took off in a run, launching himself into the waves and moving toward the last place he’d seen the guy. His powerful swimming strokes moved him through rough water that would have slowed most men, but he wasn’t most men. He was a Navy SEAL.

The guy was nowhere to be seen when Benjamin arrived at his targeted destination. He whipped his head and body around looking for the guy. Nothing.

With a deep breath, Benjamin dove below the waves and began his search. The sand on the bottom churned in the relentless waves. He swam down and around. He’d been down for a good two minutes and he knew he only had a short time before he would have to go back to the top for a breath.

The Duke of Diamonds by Emily Windsor

Truly a fabulous eighteenth century romance.  The script brings us right to the time and location with old world English and dirty, stinking streets and sewers.
Let me not forget, and a handsome Duke.  Casper Brooke is entitled the Duke of Diamonds.  He keeps to himself, not allowing time for frivolous activities.  He has one weakness.  There is a woman, always still, beautiful, and unknown in the painting on his wall.  If only he knew who she was.Image result for The Duke of Diamonds by Emily Windsor
Little money, a sick sister, and a lot of hard work and toil brings Evelyn to sell her painting.  She's gifted in a time that a woman artist is never appreciated.  Her sale to a certain man could make all the difference if she is successful.
Evelyn's feisty nature, need to make a meek living, and her possession of the twin painting of Casper's gives her an edge in her negotiations.  Casper is astounded at her independence and marvels at her robust beauty.  She's not going to convince him of the painting's authenticity so quickly.
He has her watched.  She's nearly as interesting as the possibility of the twin painting, but when he discovers her living style and her problems, he becomes protective and knows he can easily help her.  For a price.
This endearing novel brings the heart to a boil in the evolution of kindness and the strength of romance, whether searched for or stumbled on.

Happy reading,

New Release ~ CALEB'S MATE by Becca Jameson

Caleb's Mate
(Canyon Springs, Book 1)
Becca Jameson

"It leaves a deep hole in a shifter’s soul when they’re disconnected from their mate."

"After I’ve taken you, you’ll be mine. Connected far deeper than what you’re feeling now."

~ Blurb ~

The small town of Canyon Springs, Colorado, is filled with warm, welcoming people and breathtaking views. Is that why visitors often decide to stay for the rest of their lives? Or is it something else?

Elena isn’t worried about spending a week in Canyon Springs settling her aunt’s estate. She’s never bought into the notion that shifters can somehow lure people into their dens and brainwash them into staying in town. That has to be a myth.

She and her twin sister have never met this estranged aunt, so they aren’t exactly in mourning. Elena intends to spend the week reconnecting with her sister. Hopefully, she’ll find the spine to tell her sister what a failure her career has been.

But what if the lore is true? In an unexpected twist, Elena finds herself instantly falling for Caleb, the sexy wolf shifter who approaches her on her first night in town. She can fight the pull. She can deny the illogical facts. But in the end, does it really matter why the heart chooses who to love?

"This thing we feel between us, it will multiply tenfold when we have sex. So, I don’t take it lightly."

~ Excerpt ~

Caleb had never before felt as out of body as he did tonight. This entire evening was surreal. This gorgeous, sexy, fidgeting imp was his mate, the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. And she didn’t know it.

It happened sometimes. Shifters met their mate and realized they weren’t versed in the ways of his species. Not only could Elena not fully feel the instant connection, but she didn’t even know much about the shifter community. She didn’t seem to be informed that shifters knew immediately when they met their mates. If she had known that, she wouldn’t be acting the way she was or saying the things she said.

If she realized the implications of this meeting, she would be freaking way the fuck out. He knew this just from getting acquainted with her personality. Elena was practical. Conservative. He doubted she dated much and had probably slept with few men. No way in hell would she have sex on a first date and for sure not with a man she just met in a bar.

Caleb’s cock was beyond stiff. His wolf was right at the surface too and had been from the moment he saw her in the grocery store earlier in the day. It seemed like every inch of his skin was electrified, especially when he touched her, and he couldn’t even breathe for the few moments she’d drawn away from him, removing contact.

Thank God she’d given him her hand back. The contact grounded him. Eventually he was going to have to tell her who she was to him. She wasn’t ready yet, but he needed to set the groundwork. “Let’s get something straight. I was not sent over here to entertain you. I’m not Hunter’s wingman. In fact, I’m pretty sure I saw you before Hunter saw Layla. So, technically you could say he’s my wingman.”

Elena’s brow furrowed. “We just met half an hour ago. Your friend saw Layla out running earlier.”

“Yep.” He wiggled his brows, hoping his next words wouldn’t freak her out. “But I saw you at Morton’s Grocery earlier, and when Hunter texted me to meet him here, I’d already set my sights on you.” He grinned, feeling pretty proud of his argument.

She licked her lips, hesitating. “You saw me at the store?”

“And then what? You hoped I would come here tonight?”

“Exactly.” He shrugged. “What other choice did I have? There’s only one bar in Canyon Springs, and I didn’t have any other specific way to find you. I mean I could have asked around town, and I would have if I’d been unsuccessful tonight, but both of us took the chance that you might come here.”

Elena stared at him, incredulously.

He stroked his thumb over the back of her hand.

“And then you could smell me.” She was piecing it together.

“So, tell me what you’re planning to do while you’re in town. Are you staying at Marge’s house?”

She nodded and then took a sip of her soda. “We’re here to settle the estate.”

“Oh. You’re planning to sell her house?” He couldn’t keep from frowning. Somehow he had to convince this woman she was his and not let her leave Canyon Springs. How much time did he have?

“Yes. What else would we do with it? We don’t know a single person in this town, and we both have lives and jobs.”

“Where?” Caleb’s pulse picked up. This was going to be complicated.

“I live in Chicago. I’m a journalist. Layla lives in LA. She’s an actress.”

He nodded. Shit. It should have occurred to him how difficult this was going to be. Obviously two women didn’t just appear out of thin air in Canyon Springs. They would have lives and careers. Hell, her sister was an actress. Caleb wondered what he might have seen her in. She was so distinct, he would surely remember her. “How long are you planning to stay?”

She shrugged. “We talked about a week, but once we got here and I saw the house, I started to feel nostalgic. Marge was my great aunt. I never met her. I don’t want to just throw away everything she owns without taking some time to explore her home. We don’t have other relatives. Maybe I’ll need more like two weeks.”

He gripped her hand tighter. “God I hope so. I like this plan even better.” I hope you stay forever.

RILEY'S RESCUE (Last Chance #6) has released!

Riley's Rescue
(Last Chance #6)
by Lexi Post

Army veteran, Riley O’Hare, is a loner for a reason—it’s safe, and it keeps her sane. After calling animal welfare on her last boss, she accepted the position of a ranch hand for the Last Chance Ranch. But things have become almost too comfortable. The only reason she’s stayed so long is she works alonea lot.

Garrett Walker is a former Hot Shot, part of a special breed of firefighters who battle wildfires. At loose ends, he becomes the rescue horse hauler for Last Chance Ranch. When he meets the tough, distant Riley, he finds his usual aptitude for sizing up a person is completely useless. Either she’s as odd as she appears or her layers run deep.

It’s only after a freak accident throws them into close proximity that he uncovers more about her, inadvertently revealing his own weakness. A need to keep her in his life grows too strong to ignore. Their occupational scars may be impossible to overcome, but he was a Hot Shot for a reason. Jumping into fires has been his specialty…and his downfall.

A smile threatened. The man had no clue that she was the last person he wanted to be stuck in a cave with. Mine! She was in a mine. An old copper mine. Fucking-A, Riley get your shit together. This is not a cave. The ceilings are too low, there are rails on the ground, and there’s only two tunnels.
Right. She knew that. The cave outside Chora, which had at first been an escape, had become her tomb when the bastards had blown the entrance to bury her inside. The destruction at the wide opening had been complete, the debris yards deep. This was a simple cave-in.
But it was the same. She was buried alive, again. The calm she’d recognized only minutes earlier evaporated as her gaze swept the sidewalls, instinctually searching for the small hole she’d squeezed through as the Taliban scoured the cave. It had to be here. She must be close. She’d only run for a hundred yards or so. Or did it just feel like that? She listened for sounds of pursuit, but the only sound was her own footsteps and those in front of her.
She halted, but the footsteps continued, taking her light with them. Quickly, she ran forward again, desperate to find the hole. Excited arguing sounded in her ears, back toward the entrance. Maybe they would shoot each other. It had happened before.
Suddenly, a flash of light reflected off the cave walls, and she dove to the ground, covering her dog, protecting it.
Dog? She blinked as the animal licked at her face.
“Are you okay?”
The male voice above her sounded concerned. That wasn’t the voice she’d heard behind her. Releasing the dog, she rolled over to get her face out of the dirt. Quickly, she shaded her eyes from the bright light. “Who?”
A man crouched down next to her. “It’s me, Garrett. Are you hurt? Did you trip?”
