A NEW YEAR, SO MANY NEW CHANCES.

 

Hey, gang, how the hell are ya?  Doing good here, just busier than a one-armed paper hanger in a windstorm with jock itch.  And let me tell you…that is busy! 

So, in case you missed it, we’ve moved into a new year…365 new chances to get it right.  Oh wait…today is the 12^th, so I guess that means there are only 354 chances left. Guess I better get on it. 

Spoiler Alert:  (In 354 days, the option renews for us lucky enough to make it that far. YAY!  Alright, it’s a date then…we all meet back here same time next year to see how well we used those chances.  K?)  

What have I been doing, you ask?  Well…I’m working on a new story. I am elbows-deep in the newest Dallas Bradshaws book.  What’s it about?  Uh…hot cowboys.  DUH!  Shhh…don’t tell anyone, but I’m writing it for the next BMG Kickstarter campaign that will kick off later this year. Squeee!!!  I repeat…shhh…it’s a secret, so DO NOT tell anyone yet.  But it’s gonna be suhweet!!!  (More information to follow…stay tuned.) 

Another thing I did about a week ago was babysit for my granddogs Zeus and Zoe.  Zoe is just the sweetest thing ever and she basically found the biggest pillow and the warmest blanket she could find, and then she snuggled in to watch TV with me.  Zeus...not so much. Yep, Zeus is the guy who only likes the lady in the bedroom, and that trend continues. Although he did screw up once and jumped into my lap to hang out with me while I was in the living room chair. When he later realized his error, he again donned his terrified face and went back to hiding behind the rocker.  But I was clever and texted my grandson to sneak out to the living room quietly because I needed a witness.  

And, as you can see to the right, I also have a picture to prove his duplicitous nature.  So, Zeus is now going to have a lot of trouble selling the idea that he’s really terrified of the woman in the living room. I know…one mistake and you pay for that forever.  Again, I remind you—he is not right. 

What else? Hmmm…let’s see…I went with my sis and some of her partners in crime to Medieval Times last week.  OMG, how much fun was that!  Gorgeous, well-trained horses, birds of prey, and sizzling hot Knights with swords and axes. Be still, my freaking heart!  That is totally my brand of F-U-N all rolled up with H-O-T…and the wine wasn’t bad either.  A good time was had by all…and no, contrary to what you may have heard, we did not take any of their knights hostage. 

It’s my story, I’m tellin’ it my way.  😊 

Okay, back to the new year.  I have to ask…what are you going to do with all those new chances you’ve been given to get things right?  Are you going to be kinder, be stronger, take some ass-kicking classes, work harder, play like a rock star, read faster, learn how to sleep in a hammock, laugh more, practice laughing until you cry, save more, spend it like you got it, travel more, stay home and lock the doors, visit family more, host dinners for friends, sell the welcome mat, exercise more (uh…no), relax more, lose weight (yes, please), drink less alcohol (say it ain’t so!), eat more veggies, find an excellent place to hide your hoarded twinkies, get more organized, let it all hang out, spend less, blow the wad, buy an aardvark, sell a giraffe, cook more, eat out more, sleep more, stay awake until the cows come home, fall in love, dump the arse, get pregnant, pray you’re not pregnant, clean your house, hire a maid, mow the lawn more often, hire a gardener, eat less junk food, stock up on twinkies in preparation for the Zombie Apocalypse? 

So, what’s your poison? 

What are you hoping to accomplish in the new year?

 

Me? I’m hoping to lose a little weight, get a little more organized, do more traveling, have a lot more fun, and write a lot more books, and maybe even sell that giraffe.  I guess that means I’m going to have to learn how to write on a plane with a laptop that has two screens, while I drink my low-calorie alcoholic beverage for lunch. Hmmm…I think I can learn to do that. As for the giraffe…well, no one meets all their New Year’s resolutions, do they?

Whaddayathink?  Can I do it? 

Whatever your goals are, whatever your plans are, I wish you the best of years.  May your enemies be few, your challenges defeated and your dreams realized.

My Hopes for 2021

 
I know that at the turn of the year, people tend to make New Year’s resolutions. Not me. The closest I come to those is on my birthday when I take stock of my life so far and think about where I want to go in the next year. 

So when the new year turns, I like to think about what I hope for as it relates to more than just myself. It’s what I hope for my husband and kittens, my family, my friends, my neighbors, and community. It’s what I hope for all Americans and all people around the world. It’s even what I  hope for animals and nature in general. It’s different for each, but I put my hopes out there to the universe. I figure it can’t hurt, and it just might help 😊

Hope is a powerful thing. There is a Greek Myth about Pandora and her box. I’m guessing you may have heard of it.  All the evil ills anyone could think of escaped from Pandora’s box, but she closed it just in time to keep hope inside. Hope motivates. It calms. It gives comfort, and it inspires.

I hope your next year is better than the last one. Most of all, I hope you do not let hope escape from your heart.

Happy 2016

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas filled with family and friends and your favorite things (yes, I’ve had my glass of eggnog and more than my fair share of turkey with all the trimmings…oh, and cheesecake. Can’t forget the cheesecake….I only make it twice a year but it’s worth the wait). Thursday is New Year’s Eve when we welcome in 2016 and say goodbye to 2015.

          As I do each New Year, I look back at the goals and resolutions I made for the year past and see what I’ve accomplished and what I haven’t. There’s a lot. I'm still so very grateful for all the good things in my life (and I try not to dwell on the not-so-good things). I tried to be kinder. I think I was, even when it was hard to be, but the jury is still out on that. I still haven’t lost those pesky pounds I wanted to (you know how that goes….you start off really good on Monday and by Thursday, well, you messed up and ate more than you should have so you set a new goal for the following Monday….yeah, it’s a never ending cycle and I seem to lose the same five pounds over and over again. I just need to try harder). I am still counting my blessings because I consider myself blessed. I accomplished one of the things on my list from 2015…I finished A Kiss in the Shadows, which came out in October. I did not start AND finish another story, but I did start Book Two and hope to have it finished soon (and I did not give up when the going got tough. Wait, what am I saying? The going is tough but I’m working on it).

          Now, the most important part of this blog….my wishes for you, gentle reader, in 2016. May you have good health and good fortune. May you be blessed with people who cherish you and may you find that perfect story that touches your heart.

Happy New Year from the HEAT Bloggers!

Hello! And happy new year! It’s 2014. So much to look forward to. On my agenda for this year? Well, I have the release of Mischief and Magnolias coming out in March, but before that, a trip to visit the mistress of Happily Ever After Thoughts on her island paradise. Already bought the tickets and can’t wait! What else? Only about twenty some-odd ideas in my head for new stories, new adventures. Better get busy writing. The best to all of you in 2014.

Plans for 2014? Amongst wanting to write every day, write constantly, and write exceptional stories (!), I am keeping a list of unusual sayings, information, descriptions, and anything else interesting that I hear or see by accident, coincident, or luck.   This is a plan to keep my stories interesting and unique.  One more important thing…I will donate a portion of my first quarter royalties from Inked (From the CIA 1), a January release, to the American Cancer Society. Good health and happy new year to everyone :-)

Okay, I’m looking at Marie and Dawn’s goals here and I’m feeling like a slug because I haven’t given any real thought to goals for 2014…hell, it’s New Year’s Eve and I’m still worried about how to survive 2013!  I know…shocker.  (Sigh)  Anyway, right now I am shooting to have Loons of a Feather released sometime in the next month or so (got about 3 days to come up with a release date…LOL).  Beyond that, I’d like to survive the shutdown of the mainframe computer at my day job, take a few trips, release another book later in 2014, and win big in Laughlin this weekend.  Of course, the last one is a pipedream, but a girl can always hope.  You have a wonderful, successful, safe, and HAPPY…HAPPY… HAPPY…2014!!!!!

What’s on deck for 2014? Let’s see, I have the release of Passion of Sleepy Hollow coming out in early spring from Ellora’s Cave. Then I plan to write three erotic romances, each one will be the first book in a different series, so my fingers will be busy :-) I also will be at the Desert Dreams Conference again. I never miss it. I’m very excited about the Romantic Times Convention in New Orleans. This will be my first RT and I hear it has lots of readers. I know it will be a blast! Sounds like all of us here on Happily Ever After Thoughts will be bringing you more books to read and enjoy in 2014.  I wish everyone a simply amazing year ahead!

Happy New Year! What's New . . .

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and enjoyed your time with family, friends, and sleep ;-)  I certainly did.

We have a few changes we will be making to Happily Ever After Thoughts this year just to keep it interesting ;-) The first change is that we will be welcoming another writer to our blog. Her name is Lexi Post and you will hear more about her later this month.

Also, we are adding a new feature which will be questions from readers. All of us will answer the same question and since we are all very different, writing different genres with different themes, processes, and living in different places, the answers could be quite interesting. If you have a question you’d like to ask, just email me at alexis@alexiswalkerauthor.com and I will have everyone answer it.

On the other hand, we are going to keep many of our current features such as guest authors on Sundays (usually with giveaways),  romance book reviews a couple times a month by Dawn, interesting thoughts from the reader side of romance by Marie, occasional participation in blog hops, and I will continue to post about My Island Life. Of course, we may throw in a special post or giveaway at any time, so keep watching :-)
