Book Cover Dilemma

Happy Father’s Day!

I hope everyone is having a great day so far. I apologize that my post is a little later than normal. My internet has been down since Monday. An entire week without the world wide web showed me just how much I relied on it. For instance, I would probably have looked up if world wide web should be capitalized. Now, I rely on my instincts, which are normally wrong. Even my Wi-Fi printers are on strike until the fix-it guy comes, which should be today. I do feel bad that they have to work on Father’s Day, but it was the first available opening so I snatched it up.

Anyway, this post is about book covers today. I realized (and probably have for a while) that my covers for the Nadia Wolf series are a bit darker than the actual content. While there are aspects of suspense and thriller in this Vegas romance, it is also light hearted and silly at times. So, I’ve come up with a new cover and I wanted your opinion. Below is an image of my current cover, and then the one I’m creating. Does the new cover make you stop and look? Does it give the impression that it’s a light romance with perhaps some mystery? Do you like the current one better and I'm just spinning my wheels for nothing? Let me know your thoughts!

The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean

I must say, I’ve become a fan of Sarah MacLean’s. She has a way of writing that is snappy, fresh, and a little spunky. The fact that she writes regency romances is a definite plus for my virtual bookshelf.

Normally, I don’t go for romances that are entirely inner conflict. I like a little mystery or bump in the road. While this was mainly inner conflict and I groaned a few times because I’m impatient, there were a few “bumps” that kept me interested, especially since the hero and heroine bickered constantly. I do love a feisty couple.

Next month, I can't wait to introduce my new book Melting Point. It will be sizzling! Romance, mystery, suspense, Russian mafia, hot men, strong women, and a family that sticks together no matter the odds.

Also, I just listened to a podcast interview that was recently released. Stephen Campbell of CrimeFiction.FM interviewed me about the Nadia Wolf series. It was a really fun interview. For those of you who know my writing style, having to write about a no nonsense ex-Army sergeant pushed the boundaries of my normally light, quirky romantic suspense novels. As a side character to my Nadia Wolf series, Remy had only the occasional spot light. His story needed to be told. The result: AWESOME!!!


Remy Bourne’s view on relationships with women was crystal clear to everyone who knew him. He didn’t do them. Except once. And for that error in judgment, he paid the price in blood. Unfortunately, it wasn’t only his.

Ava Hunt was a part of Remy’s platoon. Her sole job was to get behind enemy lines and rescue soldiers. She worked hard, she fought hard, and she was the only woman that he had ever loved.

And she was a traitor.

After an excruciating stint in enemy prison — thanks to her — and six years of guilt — thanks to her, again — Remy finally rid her from his system and was ready to move on. I'd like to welcome our new blogger, Nicolette Pierce, who will make her debut on April 13th.  I consider that our lucky day!  Nicolette writes romantic suspense with a dose of humor.  Following is an outstanding review of the first novel in her Nadia Wolf series.

This is a story for everyone in need of a lot of humor, witty comments and descriptions, and a delightful and suspenseful story!

Nadia Wolf is like any young lady who knows what she’s good at and takes a gamble to make a living.  Nadia lives above a marriage chapel in the revered gambling city of Las Vegas.  She is a poker player by day and helps a dear friend and soon to be manager, Frankie, at his chapel.  I can’t forget to mention Gus, the on-a-diet-cat, which may be a tad grouchy but loving all the same.

Nadia, a beautiful and clumsy woman all in one, takes her poker seriously.  She has a couple eligible bachelors interested, both rich, both handsome, and both want her for more than a turn of the cards.

Her problem is she’s attracted to both, yet doesn’t want to mix poker with relationships.  Instead a deadly game with another player (poker player I mean) wants to put her underground.  She needs help from more than one bachelor and a touch of flirting doesn’t hurt.

The Nadia Wolf series is right up there with the Stephanie Plum series full of quirks, giggles, and a few serious mishaps.  I have hope for Nadia’s well-being and her eventual capture of that special man.  I haven’t finished the series yet, but I certainly hope she’s happy at the end and encourage you to find out, too!
