NEW RELEASES FOR KAYCE LASSITER.

Hey gang, Kayce here.  How the heck are ya?  Terrific, I hope!

Well, it's been a really busy couple of weeks for me with...not one, but two new releases. YEAH!

So, the first one is Volume One of the new Butterscotch Martini Shots, which is a new project the Butterscotch Martini Girls are working on.  We will be putting together box sets with some new stories, as well as a few of your favorites.  The first one, Roses & Rodeo, has four fabulous stories about cowboys and the women they love. Here is a list of the stories you will find included in this box set.

Butterscotch Martini Shots

Cheyenne McCray

In Roses and Rodeo, Danica refuses to get involved with bull riding champion, Creed McBride. Men who put themselves in frequent danger aren’t for her. Creed wants Danica the moment he spots her, and her attempts to put him off make him want her more. Danica falls for Creed, but an emotionally devastating event happens and she knows she can never trust him again.

Kayce Lassiter

Slingin’ Bull Slingin’ Bull brings you an attorney, a country singer, a fairy godmother on a
Harley, and a fairy godfather on a mechanical bull. Delta rides again to make a love match for attorney Ashtyn McCannon and singer Dayton Rawlins. Can Delta get Ashtyn past her baggage with musicians, and Dayton past his mis-trust of powerful women, in time to save the lives of the unborn glimmer?

Tia Dani

In Always Look Forward, Clint Hollister, Ex-U.S. Marshal, swears he’s through with violence. Then he meets Adaline Taylor, who returning from England discovers her parents dead, her brothers in prison, and the family’s ranch in trouble. Adaline is unable to face her enemy alone and Clint will do anything to protect those he loves, even if it means taking a bullet…again.

Tina Gerow

In Rodeo Rose, champion bull riders are vanishing without a trace. Clara Smith is a half-breed Unseelie FAE agent sent to solve the case human law enforcement couldn’t. Mark Sanders and the Rodeo Rose Bar & Grill are her only leads. Can Mark & Clara fight their attraction and growing feelings long enough to solve the case, keep Mark and his body parts safe, and navigate Clara’s unreliable magic and overprotective family?

Be sure you go to your favorite retail Ebook outlet and get your copy for $.99 before the price goes up.  Pre-orders will be taken until the release date of 2/10/2016.

Also...

I have another new book that will also release on 2/10/2016, and it is Book Two of the Delta Jane Series, One Dog Too Many.

Kayce Lassiter

One Dog Too Many again brings you fairy godmother, Delta Jane.  This time she must reunite Doris Tanner with Justin Blake—the man who abandoned Doris thirty years ago.  But Doris would rather cut Justin’s heart out with a popsicle stick than have him on her ranch.  On top of all that, the institute has sent Delta two dogs this time, which means she must make two matches in the time it normally takes to make just one.
Two dogs, two hard-headed ranchers with unresolved issues, a fairy godmother on the edge, an inept fairy godfather with a pink toy gun, and two love matches.

Will Delta make the matches in time to save the lives of the unborn glimmers or will the whole thing blow sky-high?

And for those of you who live in the Phoenix valley, both of these books will be available this weekend in paperback at the Chocolate Affaire in downtown Glendale.  I will be signing Friday 5-10pm, Saturdy 2-10pm, and Sunday 12-5pm.  Stop by and see me, and get signed copies of both these books.

That's my story, fun and fantastic, and I'm stickin' to it.  Hang on tight now, 'cuz we're gonna go real, real fast!

Love ya,

Kayce

ALL DRESSED UP…WELL, ALMOST

Hi there!  Good to see y’all again!  Hope everyone has been absolutely fabulous since we last met here.  I have been.  LOL

Well, this week I’m going to keep my blog short.  Yeah, I know…you didn’t think I had it in me, did ya?  Well, let’s hope I do…for a change.  But I did want to tell you a very quick story that I think you will all get a kick out of.  Those of you who know me will not be surprised at all.  Those of you who don’t know me will wonder how the hell I get through life without a keeper.  (smile)

This week has been very hectic, with lots going on.  The Butterscotch Martini Girls are working hard to prepare for our big Blog Heist this Sunday.  So there have been lots of preparations, lots of emails and texts, and some brainstorming and new things we are trying.  Amidst all that, I’m trying to do edits and get my story ready for publication.  So it has been crazy nuts…but freaky fun!

Now, with that said, I’ll tell you about what happened to me this morning.  I’d been running around like the proverbial chicken without its head, emailing, texting, brainstorming, and planning.  Now it was time for me to hit half a dozen stores to pick up some food and supplies we will need for our Blog Heist on Sunday.

So I threw on some shorts, a baseball cap (because it was a really bad hair day), a pair of flip flops, and earrings.  I brushed my teeth, grabbed my purse and my phone, and headed out the front door.  The moment I stepped out the door, I looked down and realized I’d forgotten my shirt.  Yep, there I was on the front porch in shorts, flip flops, earrings, and my bra.  DUH!  Where the hell is that keeper, anyway?!  LMAO

Okay, so now that you’ve heard the story of me scandalizing the neighborhood, you’re gonna wanna hear about our Blog Heist this Sunday, which is the event that has me so absent minded—and shirtless.

The Butterscotch Martini Girls are taking over Cheyenne McCray’s Blog for a day of giveaways and fun!

Prizes include $100 in Amazon gift certificates, over 40 eBooks and autographed print books, signed T-shirts and baseball caps, signed martini glasses, and other fun things.  We will be chatting, playing games, rolling out some fun new videos, and generally being wild and crazy girls.

So go to the link below and click “Join” to indicate you will be joining us on Sunday, September 13, for a fun day.  We will begin at 8:00 a.m. MST (5:00 a.m. EST).  So share the link with your friends and be sure to let them know there will be lots of free stuff and free butterscotch martinis.

Just kidding about the butterscotch martinis.  (sorry)

But there is lots of free stuff.  LOL

Interview with Cassie Ryan and Giveaway

Alexis: Today we have my longtime friend and Erotic Romance author Cassie Ryan who is giving away an ecopy of My Obsession!

Welcome Cassie. What has been the most memorable fan comment you ever had?

Cassie: I had a fan approach me at the last Romantic Times conference I attended in 2009.  She gushed over my Cassie Ryan books (the hot ones!) and told me that they were a wonderful combination of Sherrilyn Kenyon, Sylvia Day, Cheyenne McCray and Nora Roberts.  Wow!  Can you say fan girl moment??  No – me, not her!!  What writer wouldn’t want to be compared to any of those terrific ladies!!  All writers I respect and enjoy!  Cheyenne is the only one I know personally and am lucky enough to call a good friend, but I tell her all the time I want to be her when I “grow up” :)  I still get goose bumps when I think about how I felt at that moment, and how that reader looked at me as she begged me to write more books!  I don’t think there’s much higher compliment you can get out of a reader than to be compared like that!!

Alexis: Wow, what a wonderful compliment! That would give me goose bumps too. So we know what your fans think about your writing, what does your family think of your writing career?

Cassie: It’s funny, growing up, all my teachers told me and my family that they wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up writing someday.  I even had a high school Accelerated English teacher tell me that I was a great writer but if I ever hoped to be published I would have to stop writing all the dark stuff and tone down the sarcasm.  I haven’t seen or talked to her since graduation, but she would probably shake her head to know that all of that stuff was really what I’m known best for, in my Tina Gerow pen name at least.  Okay, some in the Cassie Ryan books too!  But somehow I don’t think any of my family is surprised that I ended up writing erotic romance – or what so many just call “smut” :)  I used to take that personally, but now I sort of think it’s a compliment.  And I take my smut or kink very seriously!!

Two of my sisters think it’s great that I’m a writer and don’t blink an eye at my subject matter. The third I suspect has quite a few blinks at the subject matter but is fine with me being a writer. My husband is very proud of what I do and has no problem telling all his friends and coworkers to go and buy my books.  My son is also quite proud and gleefully tells people I write porn!  I’ve tried to break him of that habit, pointing out that my books don’t have pictures in them, but I think he likes the shock factor it has.  Smartass! :)

My Mom insists that she wants to continue to think of her baby as innocent and sweet, even though she knows full well that ship sailed long ago!  When my Dad was out visiting from Ohio a few years ago, he attended a writing panel with me where readers were asking questions.  One of the readers asked the panel what our parents thought about us writing “smut.”  When it came to me to answer I told her she should ask my Dad since he was in the front row.  My smartass Dad stood up and shrugged and said he didn’t think it was all that racy.  I laughed and told him I now knew what kind of sick bastard he was!  He laughed back and said, “You’re welcome. Where do you think you GOT that sick mind from?”

Damn I love my family!! :)

Alexis: I think it’s fantastic you have such a supportive family. Especially your husband and son since writing does take time away from family sometimes (especially around deadlines). How long did it take you to write your most recent release? Why?

Cassie: It took me well over a year, and not just because it takes me longer to write a book since my brain blowout than it did before.  I used to be able to write a book in 4 months if I had to.  Now I would guess the “had to” would be more like 8 months and the stress alone might shut the pissy brain down for a while.  But this one took even longer.  Why?  Well, Sue Grimshaw approached me at the local Desert Dreams conference and asked me if I was still writing erotic books and then told me about the Loveswept line she was editing for at Random House, and asked me to submit.

To say I was excited would be an understatement.  I had met Sue back when I was with the small press publisher, Triskelion, and Sue was the book buyer at Borders.  I only met her once at a writers conference and was shocked she even remembered who I was!  But excited, too!  I was also excited about the prospect of writing for Random House – I mean, who wouldn’t be???

BUT – while I had written several erotic books, those were all paranormal, not contemporary.  And I had never written BDSM before, and didn’t really know anything about the true practice of it beyond the myths that I knew were probably bunk and the few books I’d read employing it.  But with the popularity of 50 Shades I felt a bit out of my element and knew it would take some extensive research to do it right.  And I didn’t want to do it any way except right!!  So I hit up a few friends who I thought might be in that lifestyle and they guided me to some sites and even some people I could talk to to get the REAL story about the BDSM lifestyle and the D/s (Dom & sub) dynamic.

So after my wonderful hubby laughed but told me in no uncertain terms that while he was proud of me and my writing and would always support me, he would NOT visit a local dungeon with me so I could research for my book, I dove in to research, reading, interviewing, etc., to find out what the actual lifestyle is like!  Not the Hollywood version we’ve all seen and heard about.  I still haven’t made it to a local dungeon, but maybe the BMG’s (my critique group) will go with me!  Only to watch!  Although I’ll admit, if I was still in my 20’s and a wild child I might dive into much more than that…LOL!  But for now – I think our group consensus would be just to watch!  It wouldn’t be the strangest thing we’ve done in the name of writing research, after all! :)

Alexis: I love research. Just sayin’ ;-) What do you think everyone should know about your critique partner?

Cassie: I am so lucky to have several critique partners!  My critique group is called The Butterscotch Martini Girls (the BMG in the above).  They include such terrific ladies as Kayce Lassiter, Lisa Pietsch, Tia Dani, HD Thompson, KT Roberts, and our honorary member because we love her madly, and all want to be her when we grow up, is Cheyenne McCray.  The BMG’s as we call ourselves were started in August 2003 by Brit Blaise, and we were all unpublished at that point and grew as writers together until we are ALL multi published.  We recently lost Brit to breast cancer, but we miss her dearly, and carry on the BMG’s, as we know she would’ve wanted.  In fact, whenever I’m tempted to get down on myself or wonder if a book is going to be good or not I can hear her voice in the back of my head telling me to get to work!  That I always worry about it mid book and it always turns out well!  And damn if she STILL isn’t right! :)  I love each and every one of these ladies!  We’ve been through a lot together over the last more than a decade both writing related and not.  I’m so blessed!

Alexis: The BMGs are awesome but then again so is your husband! What do you think everyone should know about your him?

Cassie: My husband is amazing.  I know most women say that about their husbands but mine truly is.  I was a cougar before it was cool, so he’s my boy toy…er….9 years younger than me and a damn sexy man that it’s very easy to base my heroes off of!  He doesn’t read my books – not because he’s not proud or is ashamed of what I write, but he just isn’t a reader.  He’s even tried to listen to audio books and he just can’t get through them.  He gets something of an input overload and has to stop.  But he’s very supportive, loves all my writing friends and has even gone to and worked at writing conferences that I was attending.  He never balks at any money I need to spend for promotions, conferences or even girls writing weekends away.  He’s also a techie – so patiently and valiantly fixes my laptop, iPhone or any other tech stuff that I have that malfunctions, which it does often.  He’s convinced I have a weird magnetic field around me that causes that stuff to go haywire, but he just kisses me, takes the malfunctioning technology away from me and brings it back fixed.  He’s a gem!  And besides that he’s a wonderful father and still loves to make me laugh!

Alexis: Thank you Cassie for coming to visit Happily Ever After Thoughts. It was so great to have you! Now I need to tell everyone about the giveaway.

Be sure to leave a comment or question for Cassie and someone will be randomly drawn to win a copy of her latest ebook My Obsession. Check out the blurb!

Blurb of My Obsession
Running from a troubled past, Sandra Barry spent years hiding out in New York City’s BDSM scene, finding satisfaction and even a sense of community as a sub at a large dungeon. But when a stalker joins the dungeon posing as a Dom, he crosses her personal boundaries, giving her no choice but to return home to Arizona. Seeking refuge once again in the kink lifestyle, Sandra meets a sexy new Dom whose tutelage drives her wild—although there’s something familiar about him she just can’t place.

As a teenager, Brent Weston was a nerd. Now he owns the hottest dungeon in Phoenix, enjoying the power and success he’s always craved. All that’s missing is the right woman to share it with. Then one day Sandra, his secret high school crush, walks into his club. She’s just as beautiful as he remembers. She’s also scared as hell. Brent has been waiting for this moment, and now that Sandra’s in his sights, he’ll do anything to protect her, pleasure her—and prove that he’s the only master worthy of her devotion.

My Obsession is intended for mature audiences. Includes a special message from the editor, as well as an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

Where The Heck Is Noah With That Ark?

Hello out there in reader-land!  How the heck are ya?  Good, I hope.  All is well here in Arizona now that the floodwaters have receded.  Huh?  Floodwaters?  I see you scratching your head and wondering, “What the heck is she talking about?  Arizona’s a desert.”  Yes, Arizona is a desert and, yes, there are floodwaters—at least there have been this week.  Plenty of water…more than enough to share.

You see, God (in his infinite wisdom) decided this was a good year to replenish the groundwater for us dry Arizonans.  So he has sent us plenty of much needed rain.  It has been a very wet monsoon season this year…good for some, not so good for others.  The funny thing about a blessing is that it isn’t always a blessing for everyone involved…probably something to do with that old adage about maintaining balance in the world.

One of my favorite sayings is, “You win some, you lose some, some get rained out.”  There’s more to the saying, but when I tried to look it up to get it exactly right and note who said it, things got fuzzy.  So I’m just going to use the version I like and we’ll leave it at that…someone very smart said it at one time.  LOL  Anyway, this week we got rained out.  On Monday, the lovely Valley of the Sun got bucket loads of water.  How many bucket loads?  Glad you asked.  Lots!  Lots and lots of bucket loads!  Arizona typically averages only 7 inches of rain per year.  But on Monday of this week, different parts of the valley got anywhere from 2.5 inches of rain to almost 6.5 inches of rain—and all this happened between midnight and 8am!!!  My particular little piece of paradise got 3.3 inches and, holy cow, am I glad I wasn’t one of those that got over 6 inches!!!  (Hmm…don’t think I’ve ever said that before.)  Oops…sorry…Tina Gerow is a bad influence!  I digress…so here’s what happened at my place.

I, like everyone else in the valley, was awakened twice during the early morning hours with severe flood alerts—those obnoxious and loud buzzing alerts that come over your cell phone.  (And while I’m on the subject, why can’t they give me an alarm sound option like that…something that I can’t possibly sleep through no matter how hard I try?)  Anyway, like everyone else in the valley, I didn’t take them very seriously.  Why?  Because the alarm network is not tuned to “my area”…if it’s flooding anywhere in a hundred mile radius, I’m getting woke up…and it never freaking floods here anyway, that’s why.  As long as you stay out of the dry washes and aren’t trying to get your Yugo through four feet of rushing water, you’re usually okay.  Well…unless you’re riding out a microburst in a houseboat on Lake Pleasant…but that’s another type of storm and another story altogether.  Anyway, I’ve lived on my place for over 25 years and it has never once flooded…so when I get this loud, rude buzzing alarm at 2am and then again at 4am, I’m just plain pissed.  I’m sleeping here, people!!!  So I get up both times and shuffle to the back door and look out.  No flood waters up on the patio, dogs not doing the backstroke, horses not water-skiing in the pasture.  We’re good.  I shuffle back to bed mumbling curses to be placed on the people who run the emergency alert system and all their offspring for 20 generations to come.

Then the sun comes up and the world looks a lot different.  My alarm goes off, I shuffle to the coffee pot to make my java salvation, then to the door to see how wet it is outside.  Holy Freaking Floodwaters, Batman!!!  I step out the door and it’s a sea of water as far as my bleary eyes can see…well, at least to the edge of my property line.  What?  What the hell?  Where did all this water come from?  My brain is clawing along in the darkness, trying to drag itself up from the depths of sleep deprivation to make sense of what I’m seeing.  No help.  Then I hear it…rushing water.  Huh?  I don’t live near a river.  What’s rushing?  Where’s it coming from?  Where’s it going?  I step outside and start walking around to see what the heck’s going on and there it is…irrigation.  What?!  Who irrigates in a flood?  Well…me, apparently.

I’ve left my irrigation gate closed from a few days ago when I’d last irrigated and all of my ports are open.  So a deluge of irrigation water is flooding down the ditch and spewing from my irrigation ports.  Both pastures are under 8 inches of water.  I look around and so are the horse pens…and the barn.  The horses are standing in their pens with their floaties on, looking at me like, “You gonna fix this or just stand there gawking?”  OMG!

So I run in and grab my flip-flops…because everyone knows flip-flops are the appropriate footwear for walking through a flood (NOT)…and I run to close my irrigation ports and open the flood gate to allow the water to go on down the road.  On the way, my flip-flops get sucked into the mud and I have to finish the journey barefoot.  I’m outside in my jammies, soaked to the waist, mosquitos are making a meal of me, and I am searching through the mud for my shoes…but my ports are finally closed!

Then I go to survey the damage.  Sheesh, what a mess!  The horses are standing in 4 inches of water, not a dry spot in any of the pens to stand on.  There are three new rivers running from the pasture into the barn and under the storage unit built into the back of the barn.  There are car parts, briquettes, firewood, light fixtures, chairs, and shelves all standing in 4 inches of water in my barn.  Even my neighbor’s horse pen that is used to store firewood and barnyard junk is underwater.  Definitely Stupid Girl at work again.  And you can believe the next time I see her, I’m gonna bitch-slap her into the next county!

So I grab a shovel and go to work (still in my jammies and muddy flip-flops), shoveling mud to dam up the rivers and stem the flow of water into the barn.  A half hour later, the rivers are dammed, I’m covered head to toe in mud, and the horses are still giving me the evil eye.  I look around and wonder, “Where the heck is Noah with that ark?”  Right about now I could use a good ark.  Did I miss the email that said I was supposed to build one?  I hate it when stuff gets lost in internet hell.  Where’s the justice?  I’m awakened twice in one night by useless cell phone alerts but I miss the email about building an ark!  Oh…uh…hmmm…yeah, maybe I should have put on my reading glasses and read those alerts more carefully.  Could there have been some mention of an ark?  So here I am limping back into the house in broken flip-flops that have given up the ghost to the sucking mud, jammies soaked and muddy, but victorious.  I look like a refugee from a war zone.

Well, I guess this is an example of all’s well that ends well…I think.  It’s now the end of the week from hell and all is well…at least for a day or two.  I called in a friend to help muck out the barn, I apologized to my neighbor for flooding her pen, I drained the horse pens enough that they have a few square feet to stand on that are not at the bottom of an ocean.  But now my big dilemma is how the heck to get rid of the millions of tiny baby frogs that came in on the flood waters.  You see, our irrigation network brings water from Lake Pleasant into the valley.  Apparently all the channels between me and Lake Pleasant were open and as the ditches and the lake filled with rain water, it created a tidal wave that traveled to the end of the path, right into my closed irrigation gate and open irrigation portals…apparently bringing with it every newly born baby frog in three counties.  They are very cute and less than a half inch long…but there are thousands of them and they are everywhere.  And if these tiny baby frogs live, a month from now I will have a plague of frogs that could be a new chapter in the Bible.  Argh!  So watch for the newspaper headlines—“Valley author eaten by plague of hungry frogs!”

That’s my story, frightening and froggy, and I’m stickin’ to it.  Hang on tight now ‘cuz we’re gonna go real, real fast!

Love ya,

Kayce
