WOO HOO…IT’S A RODEO!

Hey, gang.  How the hell are ya? Well, I certainly hope everyone out there is living their best life, having fun, and making life work for ya.  😊

Okay, so I’m gonna just cut to the chase here. The Butterscotch Martini Girls are working their proverbial (not actual) arses off promoting this big Cowboy Crush Kickstarter campaign we have going on. Trust me, it ain’t easy to keep a monster like this moving!

Why? You ask.

Well, let me ‘splain it to you, Lucy! The average number of tiers generally offered in a Kickstarter (according to internet sources) is 5.  We have 12!  And ours are so jam-packed with stuff that it’s spillin’ out the sides. That makes this a pretty large campaign with a lot of moving parts.

Then…out of 62,255 Kickstarter publishing campaigns, only about 37% of them ever reached full funding. Yikes!  Glad we didn’t read that before we funded.  LOL

So…bottom line…this is a complicated campaign with lots of rewards to find, prep, price, offer, order, create (in some cases), receive, assemble (in some cases), package, and ship. Then in between all of that, we have to build graphics, keep the campaign site updated, and…oh yeah…promote.

And…we only gave ourselves 31 days to do it in…because we didn’t feel challenged enough.  LOL  (That was a joke…it really was just sheer stupidity on my part.)

All that said…we have a large and complicated campaign with lots of rewards to source, and (with any luck at all) a wagon load of products to acquire and ship after the fat lady sings and the Butterscotch Martini Girls drink.

Where are we now?  Oh, I am sooo glad you asked.

We are a couple hundred dollars over fully funded.  YAY!

But what does that really mean?

Well, what it means is that the project is no longer in “tentative” status.  It has met its minimum budget and will now become a reality. The question is…how much of a reality?

Huh?

Oops…sorry.  Didn’t mean to Kickstarter double-speak at ya.

The term “funded” is sort of like a measuring stick that draws this invisible waterline around the project that says if you don’t go over this line, the project shuts down and no one pays a thing…basically, cancelled with no harm, no foul.  On the other hand, once a project hits this waterline, it is all systems “GO”…when the project closes, credit cards will be charged, product will be ordered and shipped, and eventually all backers will receive the goods identified in the tier they backed, along with any add-on items they may have purchased. It is literally the point of no-return.

From the project sponsor’s perspective, the “funded” waterline is simply the bare minimum mark that must be achieved in order to provide the offered products without losing money. It is pretty much the break-even point.

So…as I’m sure you have recognized by now…the objective is to EXCEED the “goal” by as much as you possibly can. Because this is the way we make money from all the work we put in and from the fabulous stories and merchandise we pulled together to make this project happen.

Now that you understand the meaning of the Kickstarter “goal,” it should stand to reason that you now understand why we may be continuing to email and post to social media and (forgive me) blog sites more often about this campaign.  A helluva lot of work has gone into this project and we would not be doing our stories any justice if we didn’t work our (again) proverbial arses off to make it as successful as possible.  Successful projects are what enables us to do what we do and continue to provide our readers with stories they love for years to come.  If our businesses fail, we have failed our readers.

It's as simple as that!

So be sure you head on over to the Cowboy Crush Kickstarter campaign and help us do justice to these stories and to the platform. If you find one of our tiers is something you cannot live without, we would be delighted to have you back it.

And while you are there, check out the other publishing campaigns that are active, and back some of those as well because those authors are doing exactly the same thing we are—working hard to keep their businesses healthy so that wonderful stories continue to be told year after year.

Yes, our project has achieved the first milestone and “funded”, but that’s just the beginning.  There are still miles to go and only 20 more days to do it in. So…back us, talk about us, share our social media posts…every little bit helps. And don’t forget that Christmas trees will be in the malls by…hmmm…next week, maybe. So put one (or ten) of these tiers on your Christmas list and watch the campaign page for some updates to come out over the next couple of weeks outlining some new offerings.

What’s coming up, you ask?

Well, I’m currently working with a vendor to design a box sleeve for the paperback
set.  It’s going to be gorgeous and if we get enough backers at the paperback level, we will be able to add some stretch goals for upgrades.  Uh-huh, uh-huh!

And…I just finished a mock-up of the dust jacket that will be available with the hard cover version…which is going to be stunning, especially if you get it in the upgraded color version with the 5 original color cover images inserted into the book.

Oh…anyone interested in vellum inserts?  We have some really gorgeous ones on the drawing board right now and are figuring out how to set them up as stretch goals.

All that and the basics too?  Yep…all that along with HOT Cowboys, savvy heroines, shot glasses, martini glasses, flasks, coloring pages, a cowboy bear, and more HOT Cowboys.  And I haven’t even mentioned the stickers, coasters, add-on novels, printed bookmarks, leather bookmarks, book buddies in display cases…and have I mentioned HOT Cowboys?  Oh…and can you say, “Martini Recipes?”

So…back a tier and sit back and watch for the new announcements to start rolling out. ‘Cuz this campaign is just fixin’ to get good.

Well, that’s my story, exciting and expectant, and I’m stickin’ to it. Hang on tight now ‘cuz we’re gonna run this pony for all he’s worth—let’s Rock this Rodeo!

Yeah, Baby!

Love ya,

NEW RELEASES FOR KAYCE LASSITER.

Hey gang, Kayce here.  How the heck are ya?  Terrific, I hope!

Well, it's been a really busy couple of weeks for me with...not one, but two new releases. YEAH!

So, the first one is Volume One of the new Butterscotch Martini Shots, which is a new project the Butterscotch Martini Girls are working on.  We will be putting together box sets with some new stories, as well as a few of your favorites.  The first one, Roses & Rodeo, has four fabulous stories about cowboys and the women they love. Here is a list of the stories you will find included in this box set.

Butterscotch Martini Shots

Cheyenne McCray

In Roses and Rodeo, Danica refuses to get involved with bull riding champion, Creed McBride. Men who put themselves in frequent danger aren’t for her. Creed wants Danica the moment he spots her, and her attempts to put him off make him want her more. Danica falls for Creed, but an emotionally devastating event happens and she knows she can never trust him again.

Kayce Lassiter

Slingin’ Bull Slingin’ Bull brings you an attorney, a country singer, a fairy godmother on a
Harley, and a fairy godfather on a mechanical bull. Delta rides again to make a love match for attorney Ashtyn McCannon and singer Dayton Rawlins. Can Delta get Ashtyn past her baggage with musicians, and Dayton past his mis-trust of powerful women, in time to save the lives of the unborn glimmer?

Tia Dani

In Always Look Forward, Clint Hollister, Ex-U.S. Marshal, swears he’s through with violence. Then he meets Adaline Taylor, who returning from England discovers her parents dead, her brothers in prison, and the family’s ranch in trouble. Adaline is unable to face her enemy alone and Clint will do anything to protect those he loves, even if it means taking a bullet…again.

Tina Gerow

In Rodeo Rose, champion bull riders are vanishing without a trace. Clara Smith is a half-breed Unseelie FAE agent sent to solve the case human law enforcement couldn’t. Mark Sanders and the Rodeo Rose Bar & Grill are her only leads. Can Mark & Clara fight their attraction and growing feelings long enough to solve the case, keep Mark and his body parts safe, and navigate Clara’s unreliable magic and overprotective family?

Be sure you go to your favorite retail Ebook outlet and get your copy for $.99 before the price goes up.  Pre-orders will be taken until the release date of 2/10/2016.

Also...

have another new book that will also release on 2/10/2016, and it is Book Two of the Delta Jane Series, One Dog Too Many.

Kayce Lassiter

One Dog Too Many again brings you fairy godmother, Delta Jane.  This time she must reunite Doris Tanner with Justin Blake—the man who abandoned Doris thirty years ago.  But Doris would rather cut Justin’s heart out with a popsicle stick than have him on her ranch.  On top of all that, the institute has sent Delta two dogs this time, which means she must make two matches in the time it normally takes to make just one.
Two dogs, two hard-headed ranchers with unresolved issues, a fairy godmother on the edge, an inept fairy godfather with a pink toy gun, and two love matches.

Will Delta make the matches in time to save the lives of the unborn glimmers or will the whole thing blow sky-high?

And for those of you who live in the Phoenix valley, both of these books will be available this weekend in paperback at the Chocolate Affaire in downtown Glendale.  I will be signing Friday 5-10pm, Saturdy 2-10pm, and Sunday 12-5pm.  Stop by and see me, and get signed copies of both these books.

That's my story, fun and fantastic, and I'm stickin' to it.  Hang on tight now, 'cuz we're gonna go real, real fast!

Love ya,

Kayce

WHAT DO LOGOS, BLABS, AND BOXED SETS ALL HAVE IN COMMON?

Hey there.  How are ya’all today?  Good, I hope!  Well, this has been a VERY busy week and continues to kick my butt.  LOL  So I’m going to keep today’s blog kinda short.  But the answer to the question “What do logos, blabs, and boxed sets all have in common?” is…The Butterscotch Martini Girls!!!

First, I want to tell you about something new that the Butterscotch Martini Girls are doing and then I’m going to leave you with an excerpt from my next novel to be released the end of November, One Dog Too Many.

Well, as most of you know, I am a member of a promo group called the Butterscotch Martini Girls, and we have really kicked this thing into high gear and are trying some new stuff on our blogs and in our promo activities.  So we’ve had a couple of weeks with a lot of new things happening.  First, we partnered with Cheyenne McCray’s Place on Facebook and executed a Blog Heist, where we basically took over Cheyenne’s blog for a full day.  There were prizes and fun new videos, and we rolled out some new logos that I have been designing.  We have a new mascot logo for the entire group, and we are also building individualized logos for each of the BMG’s.  This one shown here is the new mascot logo.  Like it?  You will need to watch our website to see the other new logos as they roll out…there will be one for each BMG.  It’s very fun and exciting for us as we customize our new logos to our individual brands.  Check back regularly to see whose new logo pops up at the  BMG Website.

The second new thing the BMG’s are doing is a weekly internet show called The Butterscotch Martini Girls Book Blab.  There is a cool new “thing” out in the social media universe that is like a video chat room on steroids, and it’s called Blab.  You get to it by typing Blab.im into your web browser and it takes you to a world where you can choose from hundreds (or maybe thousands) of internet discussions and you can watch live or, in some cases, you can join the discussion if there is room and you are approved by the moderator.  Anyway, it’s where the BMG’s are getting together each week to talk about whatever.  This past week the topic was Worst Dates, and we there were some doosies.  We had an absolute ball and we would love to have you join us each Wednesday at 4pm (Arizona time) at Blab.im.  Just go to the site a little before air time and follow the directions to sign in using your Twitter account.  Then scroll down until you find the picture related to the BMG Book Blab.

So take a few minutes when you finish reading this article to pop on over to the BMG website at the following link…

…and view the recorded episode entitled “Worst Dates”, and don’t forget to scroll down to get a chuckle from some of the tweets that were going out while we were on the air.  In fact, our very own Lexi Post was mentioned in the show.  Can you find where she was mentioned in the video?  Maybe you can tell me how many hats I said she has?  (Not sure if I remembered the number correctly or not, so you will have to actually watch the Book Blab video to find the number.  But if you find it and you are the first person to leave a comment here with the number I quoted in the Book Blab, I will give you a free eCopy of one of my books…your choice which one.

Now, I said I would also give you an excerpt from my current work in progress, which is due to be released in late November—One Dog Too Many.  This is Book 2 in the Delta Jane Series which features a redneck fairy godmother on a Harley with a pair of lips tattooed on her ass, an inept fairy godfather in pink cowboy boots, and two love-matches that have to be made in the time it generally takes to make one.  What the hell can go wrong with that?

Someone recently challenged me to take 7 lines from page 7 of my current work in progress and post it on Facebook.  This excerpt has been expanded slightly from the 7 lines posted in the challenge, but it is still just a very short excerpt…hope you get a kick out of it.

~~~
“You just love to piss me off, don’t you, Fairy Boy?”
            A chuckle rumbled through the rafters of the porch. “Not like it’s a big challenge, Hag.”
            “Funny.” Delta had never met Call in person, so she didn’t have a clue what he looked like. But when he spoke, she pictured a small, thin guy with red, wispy hair, beady eyes, and tiny little feet and hands. It made her chuckle to picture his booming baritone coming from that wimpy image.
She pushed out with her foot and started her chair rocking. “What happened? Your tights shrink in the dryer? Puttin’ too much pressure on your brain? Or maybe this is just part of the ‘boxed set’ you guys get at birth.”
“Boxed set?” Bubba Ray squinted and tipped his head to the side. “What ‘cha talkin’ ‘bout, Sis?”
Delta stopped her chair from rocking and leaned forward. “I’m talking about stupid ideas. They come with the penis, like a boxed set wrapped under the tree on Christmas morning. Like cologne and aftershave—you get one, you get the other.”
To her total amazement, both men laughed.
Bubba Ray slapped his knee and brayed like a jackass stuck on the wrong side of a fence at dinnertime.
Delta closed her eyes and thumped her palm against her forehead.
He means well.
~~~

Now, don’t forget to go to the BMG site and view last week’s Book Blab video and then make a note on your calendar to stop by and chat with us next Wednesday at 4pm Arizona time…and watch for an upcoming announcement on the release date for One Dog Too Many.

That’s my story, boxy and blabby, and I’m stickin’ to it.  So hang on real tight now, ‘cuz we’re gonna go real, real fast!

Love ya,

Kayce

ALL DRESSED UP…WELL, ALMOST

Hi there!  Good to see y’all again!  Hope everyone has been absolutely fabulous since we last met here.  I have been.  LOL

Well, this week I’m going to keep my blog short.  Yeah, I know…you didn’t think I had it in me, did ya?  Well, let’s hope I do…for a change.  But I did want to tell you a very quick story that I think you will all get a kick out of.  Those of you who know me will not be surprised at all.  Those of you who don’t know me will wonder how the hell I get through life without a keeper.  (smile)

This week has been very hectic, with lots going on.  The Butterscotch Martini Girls are working hard to prepare for our big Blog Heist this Sunday.  So there have been lots of preparations, lots of emails and texts, and some brainstorming and new things we are trying.  Amidst all that, I’m trying to do edits and get my story ready for publication.  So it has been crazy nuts…but freaky fun!

Now, with that said, I’ll tell you about what happened to me this morning.  I’d been running around like the proverbial chicken without its head, emailing, texting, brainstorming, and planning.  Now it was time for me to hit half a dozen stores to pick up some food and supplies we will need for our Blog Heist on Sunday.

So I threw on some shorts, a baseball cap (because it was a really bad hair day), a pair of flip flops, and earrings.  I brushed my teeth, grabbed my purse and my phone, and headed out the front door.  The moment I stepped out the door, I looked down and realized I’d forgotten my shirt.  Yep, there I was on the front porch in shorts, flip flops, earrings, and my bra.  DUH!  Where the hell is that keeper, anyway?!  LMAO

Okay, so now that you’ve heard the story of me scandalizing the neighborhood, you’re gonna wanna hear about our Blog Heist this Sunday, which is the event that has me so absent minded—and shirtless.

The Butterscotch Martini Girls are taking over Cheyenne McCray’s Blog for a day of giveaways and fun!

Prizes include $100 in Amazon gift certificates, over 40 eBooks and autographed print books, signed T-shirts and baseball caps, signed martini glasses, and other fun things.  We will be chatting, playing games, rolling out some fun new videos, and generally being wild and crazy girls.

So go to the link below and click “Join” to indicate you will be joining us on Sunday, September 13, for a fun day.  We will begin at 8:00 a.m. MST (5:00 a.m. EST).  So share the link with your friends and be sure to let them know there will be lots of free stuff and free butterscotch martinis.

Just kidding about the butterscotch martinis.  (sorry)

But there is lots of free stuff.  LOL
