Mistakes Were Made by Lucy Score

As a literary agent, Zoey Mood's career relied on her last client, her romance writing best friend, Hazel Hart.  Zoey had been relieved of her New York office and apartment while banned to Pennsylvania in a rural town where everyone knows everyone and everything about each other.

  

Her new landlord, Gage Bishop who's also an attorney and construction worker, made his upper apartment available for the attractive, yet entirely obnoxious newcomer.

Zoey had a mental list of things she needed to take care of including make enough money to survive, publicize Hazel's new book successfully, and not date any men.  Her taste in boyfriends always backfired.

Quite the opposite for Gage.  He has solid work and wants to settle down with the right type of woman.  

The best relationships can happen as a surprise, when you don't expect it.  All you need is two single people who don't really realize what is good for them.  

This is where Zoey's spontaneous and goofy nature collides with Gage's orderly and carefully planned life through funny and ridiculous events, which allow them to get to know each other.  They attempt to fight off the growing feelings because neither believes they are compatible.  But maybe the differences are more attractive and sustainable than they previously thought.

Many laughs will bring the results!

Things We Hide From the Light by Lucy Score

 When everyone figures out that working in teams can result in a lot more answers and happiness, we'll find a much more loving world.

Nash Morgan, Chief of police of Knockemout, VA, is the leader of a team.  He has a hard time communicating since he was shot and can't remember what happened.  That must be terrible.  He feels he can't do his job, shutting his mind away from others, and a woman isn't in the cards. 

Studly-Do-Right is what Lina calls him.  Good looking and a pain in her ass.  Especially since she is kindly offered to rent the room next to Nash's.  Her purpose for being in town is strictly work, related to the work Nash has at hand.  She can't let him know.  She likes to love 'em and leave 'em, so it's not her style to be sentimental and honest with men.  

Something is different in Knockemout right now.  An attempted murder on the chief of police, a missing and insured classic sports car, and Nash and Lina both after the same guy.

They can't avoid each other forever.  

Each run-in creates heat.  

If the fire ignites, they can share investigative evidence.

If the fire ignites, they can share each other.  

Unlikely.  Nash and Lina are both against the tingles of sensation that bounce between each other.  Sometimes a weakness can make a strong alliance.  

This is a scorcher of a romantic suspense.  The search for the criminals, and the love and romance have one problem after another.  As long as all, or at least most, of the problems are resolved, Nash and Lina can make a truce to allow themselves happiness.

Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

 A delightful read as Naomi Witt runs far and fast at the last moment from the aisle and still wearing the white dress.

Always a planner, she has only one sense of direction toward her twin sister, Tina, in need of help, as always.  The only "twin" thing about the sisters is their looks.  Otherwise, her sister is a complete troublemaker and completely irresponsible.

Naomi arrives in Knockemout, Virginia and finds an unknown eleven-year-old niece, Waylay, waiting for her.  

No wedding, no money, no home, no job, and an abandoned niece.  What else can upset Naomi's planned existence?

Knockemout is a charming and tight community with the necessary coffee house to ease anxieties.

Knox Morgan owns the cafe plus a lot more in town, yet he's not a people person.  He makes it plainly clear when confronting the new girl in town.  He's a bad-boy biker with a hidden heart of gold.  He wants to keep that a secret and be left alone.

The funny thing is, Knox has it hard for Naomi, and she can't help but search for his good qualities.

The story is loaded with Knox attempting to secretly help Naomi, Naomi falling for Knox, Knox falling for her, and both holding back.  

As I read the love story, I wanted to tell them to "Quit being stubborn!", and "You're perfect for each other!".  Knox and Naomi will have to figure it out themselves as they didn't listen to me!

Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score

 My pick for a Halloween read is a witty, hilarious, and loveable character filled story starring Riley Thorn, the local psychic who wants to be normal.

Riley has just gotten divorced and screwed at the same time, and not in the fun way.  She moved into an old mansion filled with older people, each with their own unique personalities and a fun part of the adventure.  Except for the neighbor across the hall who got shot.

Riley foresaw the murder and decides she needs to understand her psychic abilities if only to help catch the killer.

It comes with a catch.  That would be the ultra handsome PI, Nick Santiago, whom Riley knocks down a flight of stairs while attempting to stop the murder.

Nick doesn't believe in long-term relationships, but Riley tempts him in a way he doesn't understand.  They figure out they need each other in special ways to solve the murder, and team up as investigators along with a cover of the "fake fiancé" act.

Riley's eccentric family, her mansion-mates, and several other tag-a-longs combine their skills, humor, and perceptions to round up a team of bad guys and the couple-of-the-week, aka, Riley and Nick.  

I thoroughly enjoyed the wild antics of the elderly in Riley's apartment along with just how a crazy lifestyle is proved to be so much more fun and fulfilling than just being normal!  I highly recommend downloading this story.  Give yourself plenty of reading time because you won't want to stop till the end.

By A Thread: A Grumpy Boss Romantic Comedy by Lucy Score

A delightful read for the oncoming summer!
Dominic Russo works on a ton of problems which gives him a hard shell.  He's determined to be nothing like his father, a playboy with all women.  He steps into the job his dad had at the family fashion magazine.  Let's not forget that Dominic hasn't been with a woman for a year.      
Ally speaks her mind in a humorous manner.  At least I find it funny.  She probably thinks she's saying it like it is.  Suddenly, fired from her main job of many, a glorious woman steps in and tells her to show up for work at her business.
Dressed up in her resale clothes, they still look stylish, Ally shows up for whatever job is waiting for her.  
She has to work with Dominic!  It's his mother who hired her.
Immediate disdain is slung between the two.  It creates fuel for an unexpected attraction.  How can that be?
The banter between Dominic and Ally is laughable.  They both realize there's an undercurrent of lust going on that they pretend doesn't exist, and it adds fuel to their emotional side.
All Ally's time is devoted to her many jobs. Dominic is apprehensive to exhibit a personal side.  So where does this leave the festering "I want to jump you" portion of their minds? I'm greatly amused along their trip to accept a love they try to demolish.
