We will be at "Weekend with the Authors" May 13-15

Oh wow! I just realized that three of the authors who post on this blog will be attending A Weekend with the Authors event happening in Nashville May 13-15th. This event is geared toward readers who want to meet and hang out with some of their favorite authors. So if one of your favorite authors is Marie Patrick, Kayce Lassiter, or Lexi Post (yours truly), from this blog, that's where we will be hanging out. What I like about that event is the hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the airport so no taxi ride expense. The Rogue Not Taken by Sarah MacLean

I must say, I’ve become a fan of Sarah MacLean’s. She has a way of writing that is snappy, fresh, and a little spunky. The fact that she writes regency romances is a definite plus for my virtual bookshelf.

Normally, I don’t go for romances that are entirely inner conflict. I like a little mystery or bump in the road. While this was mainly inner conflict and I groaned a few times because I’m impatient, there were a few “bumps” that kept me interested, especially since the hero and heroine bickered constantly. I do love a feisty couple.

Next month, I can't wait to introduce my new book Melting Point. It will be sizzling! Romance, mystery, suspense, Russian mafia, hot men, strong women, and a family that sticks together no matter the odds.

Also, I just listened to a podcast interview that was recently released. Stephen Campbell of CrimeFiction.FM interviewed me about the Nadia Wolf series. It was a really fun interview. F*ck Love by Tarryn Fisher

I know Valentine's Day just ended and in no way do I want you to feel the way Helena (character) feels about love.  The title says it all until better things come around.

I am completely into reading new authors and new books this year.  I hit a gold mine with this romantic comedy by Tarryn Fisher. 

Helena is the sweetest, not prettiest according to her best friend (her BFF, Della, is wrong), caring, understanding, and messed up young lady. 

Helena dates Neil, who has his own issues, big ones.  Della is in love with Kit Isley, and they have issues, nearly bigger ones.

What could go wrong with two couples that hang out together and are BFF’s?  Shall I number the problems??

When things start to unravel between Helena and Neil, the first thing Helena thinks is What. The.  F*ck.  Yes, she has a potty mouth that works for her.  I won’t tell you what’s wrong with Neil, I’ll let Helena in her words because she does it so much better.

The other problem lies with Kit and Della, or is it Helena and Della, or maybe Helena and Kit?  It’s all in there. 

Helena, I love her, does get a match up with the right man at the right time prompted by whiskey, babies, dreams, a cult leader (brief meeting), ex-girlfriends ( of Kit’s), Florida and Washington, beige clothes, allusions from art . 

Wish I could give you more plot, but that would give this delightful story away.  You have to read F*ck Love and I promise you will laugh and cry along with Helena.  And that’s not a joke!

Chocolate Affaire & Other things

         I am having one of those “I want to play hooky” days. Last weekend wasn’t nearly long enough and I’m still recuperating a week later (I think I may have mentioned that I’m not nearly as young as I used to be). Perhaps I did too much. Or maybe not enough.

         What I did do was attend a fantastic annual event around here. The Glendale Chocolate Affaire. I’ve been participating for quite a few years now and I look forward it. What is the Glendale Chocolate Affaire? Oh my! Well, as the name indicates, it has to do with chocolate….lots and lots of chocolate. Chocolate covered cheesecake, chocolate covered bananas, killer fudge (I’m especially fond of the Maple Walnut flavor). They even have a booth where you can make your own chocolate pizza! It’s not just chocolate though. There’s kettle corn and fry bread…oh my gosh, my mouth is watering…gotta stop thinking about all those food booths lined up on the street. There’s face-painting and rides for the kids and live music, too. I’ve heard some really good bands play during this event (and yes, there is dancing in the street).

         The other great thing about the Chocolate Affaire? Books! And the authors who write them (yes, that includes me). I love this! There’s nothing better than hanging out with other authors except maybe getting to introduce yourself (and your writing) to someone who hasn’t read you before.

         And let’s not forget the workshops. These are fabulous presentations given by the authors (before I began participating in the Glendale Chocolate Affaire as an author, I attended the workshops. I can’t tell you how much I learned from these fabulous people!), they’re open to the public and they’re free.

         And that’s why I want to play hooky. Did I have too much fun over this past weekend? Oh, you bet! But what’s that old ditty? I owe, I owe so it’s off to work I go? Yeah, that’s me.
